Copa: What schools have you attended?
Pamela: I attended Lake Clifton Senior High School, at the age of 16 and graduated with honors. As an honor student I graduated #8 out of 412 students. In 1977 received my Associates of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences, went back to school as an adult and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management. Afterwards I attended Graduate School at the University of Baltimore, but dropped out. By then I was just too worn out to complete another degree. However, in the scope of life-long learning, I have been awarded a number of certifications in a variety of disciplines.

Copa: What is your philosophy to style and fashion?
Pamela: My fashion philosophy is to know what looks good on you. Once you know what suits your body-type, personality, and personal interests, you should take it to the highest level possible. I say leave them breathless; leave an indelible impression, and always keep it classy. My style is bold, but classic; conservative with a twist of Avante Garde; timeless elegance and regal fierceness. There are many who describe me as iconic. I think they use this descriptor because they sense my commitment to being the ultimate representation of womanhood.

Copa: Tell us about your latest book and the tour.
Pamela: My latest book, “Loving Scott Harrington – Bound By Dark and Dangerous Affections” is a fictional novel based on real life events. Scott Harrington is a charismatic slave who becomes a free man at the age of 17. Although he is emancipated by law, he remains held captive to certain dark and dangerous affections that have their origin in the System of Slavery. He has a love/hate relationship with his master, who is also his biological father. He struggles with the slave/master mentality throughout his entire life. Slavery is his point of reference and the slave/master mentality is how he engages with family members and anyone who tries to love him. Scott is a complex man and his life is the clash between slavery and freedom; love and hate; peace and war; the practice of traditional Christianity and the taboo practices of witchcraft and roots. Readers are captivated from the first page through the very last page. Some will hate him, others will love him, but he is an unorthodox leading man whom my readers will never forget. I recently completed a three-day book tour in Atlanta, Georgia. It was amazing and I had the opportunity to speak with so many people and readers about Scott Harrington. What makes this book all the more interesting is that I am the real Scott Harrington’s maternal grand-daughter. He was my mother’s father. I wanted to release the book back in 2012, which was her centennial year. The plan was to honor her 100 birthday with the release of the book although she passed away in 2002. However, this was also a labor of love and I wanted to get it right, so I relieved myself of the pressure of meeting a deadline to ensure that the final product would be a great read. Loving Scott Harrington isn’t my first book. My first book, “Is It Love Or Merely a Sick Attachment” was released in 2011. It was published by Tate Publishing & Enterprises. I learned so much during that long and arduous process. So I decided to self-publish this time.

Copa: The Power of Love Gala, tell us about it.
Pamela: The Power of Love Gala is my vision and a lifestyle event that was created to celebrate healthy and loving relationships. We read and hear so much about what is wrong in our relationships. However, I do know of plenty relationships that are working. Despite the ugly statistics on domestic violence and divorce, there are plenty of people who know how to attract, cultivate, and maintain healthy loving relationships. That’s what the Gala is about – an entire evening devoted to healthy loving relationships and their impact on quality of lifestyle. The evening includes live entertainment by acclaimed performers, dinner, dancing, shopping with premium vendors, fabulous door prizes and gift bags. One of the major features of the evening is the Awards Ceremony where we honor power couples. Our power couples are not honored just because they are celebrity or well-known. They are honored because they are people who have faced challenges, been subject to heartbreak, or may come from humble beginnings, but notwithstanding life’s challenges, they have created living legacies without sacrificing love, faith, and family. They are a diverse group and our guests get to celebrate with many faces of love. This event is not for couples only. Anyone can celebrate the power of love in his or her life. Also, we cannot celebrate the power of love without demonstrating it in some substantive way. In this regard, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of tickets will go to Women Veterans Interactive. We want to be included among those who are honoring women who have served our country so we can continue to enjoy the enriched lifestyles that we are afforded.

Copa: What other activities are you evolved with right now?
Pamela: Well, I’m a Certified Professional Coach. My practice concentrations are Relationship Coaching and Image Coaching & Consultation. As a relationship Coach, I guide clients to new levels of consciousness where they develop a second-nature awareness of the impact that their relationships have on every part of their lives. You see, whenever we do something, it affects something else. This awareness is responsible for better decision-making; critical thinking; and responses that are generally in one’s best interest. As an Image Coach, I develop incredible unforgettable people who know and use the power of image to live dream lifestyles that are their realities. Once clients master my comprehensive approach to image building and preservation, they are perfectly poised to command the attention and respect that belongs to the icon. An icon is a symbol and when you are symbolic of the desirable woman or man, people respond to you accordingly. I also have a relationship column in Copa Style Magazine. I address the types of issues that are inherent to relationships. Readers always receive the truth unfiltered. I believe that people appreciate candor. Even if they don’t agree with you, they at least respect your honesty.

Copa: Please tell us about your other interests, especially your love for those glamorous hats.
Pamela: I love being a woman. Although I have been known for my assertiveness and ambitions in the corporate world, I have never adopted the notion of being “one of the boys” to advance. I’ve been able to amalgamate strength and femininity, and it has always worked for me. I’ve never worried about my corporate male counterparts treating me differently because of my femininity. I’m comfortable with knowing that once they work with me, they will discover an intelligent woman who is the consummate professional, and well-versed in a lot areas in diverse corporate cultures. Once they know this, they respond to me accordingly. I absolutely love fashion, and march to my own fashion beat. For example, dress codes have changed drastically in the workplace. Business Casual is now the dress code in many workplace environment. However, I stick to dressing up for work. It has been my personal belief that along with a casual dress code comes a casual attitude for some people. I have my own version of business casual, but others comment that I still look dressed. Oh well – I love it! One of my fashion statements that I’m known for is my love for hats. A woman who wears hats is usually looked upon with intrigue. Her style of hat says a lot about her. I wear very glamorous hats and people actually wait with anticipation for me to show up at an event in one of my fabulous crowns.Currently I have between 125 – 150 hats. Now that I’m the Face of Rosebud 2014-2015, that number is definitely going to increase during my reign. I believe that every woman should consider herself a queen. My hats are expressions of my queenly persona. I consider them my crowns. How’s that for self-confidence?

Copa: Share more with us about you becoming the 'Face of Rosebud' and information about the upcoming "Great American Hat Show" in New York.
Pamela: Harriet Rosebud is a nationally known and celebrated milliner. Her hats are worn by everyone, including a number of celebrities. At one time she had a line of statuettes and the figurines wore mini versions of her hats. They're so popular, they became collector items. As the Face of Rosebud, I will represent her brand for one year. So you may see me pop up at any event wearing one of my Rosebud hats. The prize for winning the coveted award includes $3,000 worth of hats and accessories, a trip to New York to Harriet’s Great American Hat Show. The 2015 show will take place on February 7, 2015, and I am excited about going. I will also be signing copies of Loving Scott Harrington at the show. How exciting is that?

Copa: What does the future hold for Pamela Reaves?
Pamela: The future holds limitless possibilities for Pam. I have many interests and I pursue most, if not all of them. I can never be pigeon-holed because there is nothing stereotypical about me. I’m a glamour girl, but a woman of substance; a fashion icon, but comfortable in jeans and no make-up. I love to laugh, but I’m also serious woman. I can be really tough, but I am also a nurturing woman. I’m in my late fifties, and Still Go My Diva Swag.
