The preparations in becoming a makeup artist are believing in yourself and your product. Being confident is one of the most important tools to have, you can start with a simple palette of 3 colors, foundations, setting powder and a few brushes it’s all about your technique.
I joined the field of cosmetology because I love everything that is entailed with the career. I love to see the transformations a little makeup can do to clients and most important seeing them smile. Makeup to me is like Art and the canvas is a face.
I have been successful this entire time because I value all my clients and give them the best service.
All my beauty tips are from things I have learned to do or products I recommend.
In the beginning of my career it was hard to balance my personal life with work life. I dedicated a lot of time and effort and didn’t have time for anything. I realized then that I needed to make a change and I did. On days that I don’t work I dedicate my time with my three beautiful kids and grandson. At lease 2-3 hours of my day I dedicate to my business wheatear it be calling back clients, emailing and promotions.
I like to give all makeup artist a little advised which come straight from my heart. If your passion is makeup and you are not able to do anything with it do some research there is so many ways of finding work in your area. Family and friends are your best clients, practice on them and when you feel ready to do work on others find different ways to expand your talent. Don’t sit around and wait for the work to come to you, sometimes you have to sell yourself and your product. There is a lot of competition out here and there’s enough work for all of us. As I always said believe in your abilities and push yourself to the limit!
