Copa: Where are you from?
Erika: I’m from the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil. Copa: What schools have you attended and special courses?
ErikaI completed my formal education in physical therapy at my state university called Unileste in Brazil. I then completed additional specialized education in the US such as Lymphedema Certification training, Massage School (CMMS), and attended the American Society Anatomy Harvard Medical School. Copa: At what time did you develop and interest in Detox Massage?
Erika: I first gained interest in this field while I was still a university student. I felt that women who went though mastectomies needed delicate and specialized post-op treatment for recovery in order to improve their quality of day-to-day life. Copa: When did you decide to establish your own business?
Ericka: I gained experience first in spas and clinics first prior to working on getting all the required licenses needed to operate my own practice in the state of Maryland. Upon getting all the required licenses to operate I launched my practice in 2019 in Potomac, Maryland. |

Copa: This is an interesting specialty in the field of massage, please tell us about some of the services you provide to your customers.
Erika: I provide lymphatic drainage which is one of the methods that I prefer due to the benefits it consistently provides to my clients. It’s very important as part of the treatment for lymphedema and post plastic surgery, liposuction and for helping with swelling as week as built-up toxins in the body. This method can be helpful for people with issues such as constipation, water retention, gases and cellulite. |

Erika: I've been at my current location for one year and at my prior location for 2 years. Copa: How do your patients know when they should call you for your services?
Erika: The Majority of my clients are referred by doctors or from previous clients who are still regulars with me.

Copa: What does the future hold for Erika and her Detox Massage business?
Erika: The success of my business is directly correlated with my dedication and passion that I have for my practice. In the future I’d like to be an industry leader and have my practice recognized as an industry model to follow for lymphatic drainage. I also look forward to sharing my methods, experience and knowledge with other professionals in the industry who would like to succeed in this industry.
