Copa: At what time did you discover you had a flair for fashion?
Bri: I used to look at other girls who seemed as if they were happy. They had all the latest clothes and shoes. I had whatever my mother could afford. A learned to live from within as I was never able to connect in any meaningful friendships. I placed myself in a category of average or not belonging in a group with "those other girls." They were prettier than me, bold and not afraid to voice their opinions. They could be themselves and yet I was still struggling to find my voice. I began to fantasize about being a Fashion Designer or maybe an Interior Designer.

Copa: Have you always wished to be part of the Fashion Industry?
Bri: Yes, it was either interior design or fashion design. No, a dancer!! That wasn't going to happen, I had a very traditional family who drilled the idea of going to college and getting a job. So much so that I got married, quickly, and skipped college. From that union, I had my three precious sons. I lived the life that was necessary at the time. Only to end up divorced! No life skills, but I learned, I lived, and I overcame. And guess what, I found my voice.

Copa: When did you first establish your business, was it a challenge for you?
Bri: In 2019 I officially established Alchemy Designs by Bri. It existed in my mind, but in early 2019, I got the nerve to apply for an LLC and register the business. Then it became real to me. I couldn’t look back.

Copa: Please describe the type of apparel you offer to your customers.
Bri: Our ladies (customers) have been through something and overcome it. She either doesn’t believe she is worth or doesn’t have the confidence. But she can still be sexy, confident, beautiful in clothes at Alchemy Designs by Bri. Or clothing and accessories are sustainable and not just “one wear” it will be her favorite or “go to” piece. Whatever it takes, a leather dress to make her feel like a Dominatrix or a Satin Baby Doll dress to make her feel like she is the life of the party.

7. Will things change very much for you after the pandemic? Thing will change tremendously after the Pandemic. Alchemy Designs by Bri. Will engage in more events to interact with our ladies. See their faces and hear their stories. Put them in more fierce clothing in person as they get to try it on. We will be aligning with charities that support women to change even more lives by helping ladies find their voice. Until then, we keep brining that virtual fire!
8. What is your philosophy on fashion and your customers?
Fashion is the catalyst to get my message to the world. Focusing on self-care. I decided that feminity was to be celebrated and embraced. That when I dressed up, my confidence boosted to %1000. I discovered that the right look can make a woman feel like a superhero, like she has superpowers. Something as simple as a new jacket or pair of shoes can make her walk differently and even talk differently. She finds her voice (confidence) In my case, my smile was bigger, and yes, I was happier. I am committed to finding as many smiles as possible. Fashion is Self-Care. I have decided that this confidence should be taught and demonstrated to women like me.
9. What does the future hold for Brinette Owens and her world of Fashion & Style? I intend to impact lives through charity. Spreading my brand to women of all shapes, colors, and mostly circumstances. She needs to know that she needs self-care, and that is where I come in. Fashion is self-care.
Recently, Alchemy Designs by Bri has begun expanding its operations in addition to our Online Boutique. This includes Model Calls, Styling, and other endeavors. As a result, Bri has connected with some heavy hitters in the Fashion Industry. In May I will be working as a Stylist in Mr. Travis Winky's new fashion production in Baltimore, MD. Also, I will be working with costumes on another production as well.
