1. Karen, how did you feel when learned that you were invited to David Chappell's After party at Cafe Milano in Georgetown after he accepted his Mark Twain award for American Comedy?
I got a call the Friday before the event informing me of a big late night surprise. To be ready and cute for Sunday night. I had no idea what the surprised entailed only that I was going somewhere and to be fashionable.
On Sunday, when I found out the person being honored was Dave Chappelle I was very excited. I had only seen him once before in The Hamptons.
I knew it was going to be a late night and to be ready to party to the wee hours of the night.
Cafe Milano was decorated as a nightclub and tribute to Dave. All the tables had been removed, tents set up and everywhere there were photos of Dave throughout his life and career. It was absolutely beautiful!
2. What was the atmosphere like?
I have been to Cafe Milano on many occasions but this was extremely special. This was a once in a decade experience. I could not have asked for a better evening. The service was impeccable and the food is always amazing. I had way too much champagne and realized I wasn't 25 anymore around 1:00 am but every moment celebrating Dave was worth the price of my hangover!
3. I'm sure many well known celebrities were in attendance, would you like to name a few for our readers?
Every guest was a celebrity but it was great to see local celebrities such as Sylver Logan Sharp, Donnie Simpson, Grant Hill and his beautiful wife Tamia.
There were a lot of national celebrities in attendance as well including Tiffany Haddish, Chris Tucker, Leon, Aziz Ansari, Common, Q Tip, Mos Def, DJ D Nice, Thundercat and many more....
A few local congressman were there too but names escape me.
We were asked to limit our photos and videos and simply enjoy the night.
4. How was the food and entertainment?
The food at Cafe Milano was incredible. The band was amazing. Sylver can share more about each member of the band and how talented each musician on stage was that night.
The more champagne I drank the less I remembered as the night past 1:00 am.
5. Did David actually sing?
6. How would you rate the event and would you like to see more entertaining events of this caliber in Washington, D.C.?
Hands down this was a EPIC night and one that I will remember. It is rare to experience nights such as this in DC. Everyone is a VIP, great time, food, music and celebrating great talent. I will remember this night for a long long long time.
Thanks Karen!

Success is not final, failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts.
