Copa: When did you develop an interest for fashion?
Catherine: My interest in modeling began during my youth at the age of 7. I walked in fashion shows with my Grandmother, Mother, Aunts and Cousins at our Lutheran Church functions. I formed a liking and attention and the applause. Everyone complemented my on doing so well. As the years went on I continued to participate in the field of modeling and acting, throughout the years I developed my own style.

Copa: At what time did you decide to become a model?
Catherine: I decided to be serious in modeling after college. I then was free and able to travel and visit Paris, Italy, Canada, New York, Hawaii and several other countries to see where I fit in and what client would want to contract my look and style. Copa: When did you first participate in a fashion show and what was your experience?
Catherine: As a child of 7 years old my first experience modelling was at my Lutheran Church in Washington, DC. As an adult my first fashion show was with the Delta Sigma Theta Inc. Baltimore City Chapter in 1985. By that time I was a professional and was well known. My experience whenever I model is easy for me, it has become a part of my of my life I enjoy and would always like to continue to do. I do not consider it a hobby. Copa: Who are your favorite models?
Catherine: Iman is my favorite model. As a model; her poses, her walk, her stands, the turn of her head and when she looks expresses herself effortlessly. This is the type of modelling as I practice it. |
Copa: How would you describe your fashionable style?
Catherine: My fashion stems from my Grandmother and Mother. Both loved to dress up from head to toe with accessories to match. Everything was color coordinated depending upon the event. There I grew up being dressed by my two designers and it became a part of my social being to this day.

Copa: What is your opinion on fashions shows in the DMV compared to New York.
Catherine: I view a lot of fashion shows on the internet as well as attend them or participate in them. Take the words "Fashion Shows" and that will explain itself clearly. Each show depicts the vision of the Director, Designer, community or production company to express their visionary idea. The DMV and New York are similar, it's the difference in HOW it's displayed.

Copa: The DMV has an interesting ‘fashion industry’ with it’s own flair. How would you describe it in your own opinion?
Catherine: The DMV has different cultures and the wonderful flair about it is there's never a repeat. There's always a new vision to be seen and new opportunities for the model. The DMV is constantly growing and it's not as crowded as New York so we still can enjoy and view all the fashion it can offer.

Copa: What does the future hold for Catherine Marie and her world of fashion?
Catherine: My future and my world of fashion you ask, well it would incorporate my biggest dreams to be household name as well as be on the billboards around the world. I will continue to model and also instruct modeling habits and styles to ladies that wish to improve themselves and age is not a factor. I will continue to travel and learn to be a part of the fashion industry wherever I go.
