Graced as the “Master of Art” by the government of France, Pierre Corthay is a cultural icon with an ingenious eye for creativity and art.
Corthay experienced his first taste of art at a very early age. Following his father’s advice, Corthay studied the discipline of art at the brotherhood of French master artisians, Les Compagnons du Devoir. At twenty three, he worked for Talbinio Berluti, before taking over the made-to-measure atelier, which he ran for five years. Corthay’s experience with Berluti and the atelier would later prove to be the beginning of a very successful career in the shoe fashion industry.
In 1990, at the young age of twenty eight, Corthay opened his very own atelier, and immediately received an order of 150 pairs of bespoke shoes for Sultan of Brunei. What sounds like a difficult task for such a young man, venturing out on his own for the first time, was nothing short of an opportunity to display his talents and the shoe-making process.
Over the years, Corthay has continued to create handsomely crafted shoes that are forever changing with time.
Pierre Corthay shoes can be found at Saks Fifth Avenue and Stanley Korshak. To learn more about Pierre Corthay shoes, log on to corthay.com and also pierrecorthay.blogspot.com
The Casonova Oxford is inspired by the myth behind the seductive philosopher and writer, Casonova, who wearing many “mask,” roamed the streets of Europe in search of a better life.
With its five eyelets and a sharp silhouette, the hand-carved, three dimensional shaped Casonova Oxford, is of an image of a Venetian mask that embodies Casonova.

The Fantomas Derby and its undeniable uniqueness is a classic amongst the Maison Corthay derbys. Its sinuous loop from the double-eyelet tabs is an illustration of sophistication that exemplifies art at its finest
The Pierre Corthay Arca Boucle or “Monk Strap” is a replication of the original Monk, only it has a more casual appearance.
