Strayer University. Washington, DC. Copa: At what time did you decide to become a DJ?
Becky: In December 2015, after a friend confronted me asking me to be his DJ so we can be a tag team but officially started January 1, 2016. |
Copa: How would you describe your special talent with you listeners?
Becky: I would describe my talent as a DJ as playing timeless music from 70s, 80s, 90s and now 2000s. I have a passion for music because I grew up playing trumpet and French Horn, so when I started thinking of DJing it just made sense. I love music.

Copa: What would you say would be your signature turntable 'style?'
Becky: My signature DJ style is spinning on a Pioneer DDJSR2 Controller Board and I like dancing as I DJ my events to blend in with crowd. I love dancing too! So, why not join in. Copa: How did you begin as a professional DJ?
Becky: I started my research when I was living in Irving, TX. for 2 years and I was East Coast homesick so I started thinking of a way to earn money for my company. I also spoke to my California friend, and he thought we be good as a duo team. He sings and I would be his DJ. So here I am today a DJ of 8 years. Copa: Who would you say are the top 2 DJ's of all time and why?
Becky: I’m not going to put myself in a category with others because I am a private event DJ, fashion shows, sorority and fraternity, comedy shows, corporate parties so I think it’s safe to say my work speaks for itself. That is why I am DJ Pynk Dyamond. My clients are repeated clients and I get a lot of referrals. |
Copa: In your professional opinion, what have been the most significant change in popular music styles at nightclubs in the past 5 years?
Becky: Well they are now having silent headphones parties, in which the music is only heard through headphones at the party and people are dancing but through the headphones. Kind of different but there lots of clients that are doing this type of event.

Copa: How would you describe your personal 'Fashion?'
Becky: My personal fashion is also different because I could dress up or down. I like suits whether they are shorts, pants or even leggings. I love swimwear as I’m always shooting by beaches, pools and even lakes but I love the summer so I have to buy lots of swimwear. My last thing is shoes growing up we were not in a good financial status so as I grew up, I made sure whatever shoes I liked, I was going to buy them especially summer shoes. I love my toes out.

Copa: What does the future hold for Becky Gaston and her magical world of Music and Entertainment?
Becky: My thought process is to maybe DJ a couple more years and plan to become maybe a Music Marketing Consultant or a Booking Manager, but I’m also teaching my granddaughter Zhoey how to DJ as well so she can carry on making her some money.
