Copa: Have you always been a fashionable person and when did this begin?
Chelly: Since I can remember, from grade school, I was always been fashionable, attentive to detail, color and style. I’ve always been a very poised person with a captivating and striking appearance that matched my 'swag,' my 'live life' attitude, which demanded the room and attention of anyone who graced my presence. The swag and oar exuded 'confidence, class and a style' unlike any other. When I walk into a room, I OWN it. Copa: What are your most influential fashion sources or people?
Chelly: I have always been influenced by Cocoa Chanel. She was definitely a posed woman, a woman of class and style. When I heard her say, “a girl should be two things, Classy and Fabulous." I knew at that moment, that I was the 'epitome of elegance.' Copa: What is your personal philosophy as it pertains to fashion and style?
Chelly: My philosophy for fashion and style is that you have to wear what makes you feel good. You make the outfit, your confidence, your swag, and your attitude! I’ve never been one to really follow a trend, I dance to the beat of my own drum... I love fashion, colors, patterns, print, with my vivacious attitude and demeanor, when put together, I make them come to life. I own it, the presence, the environment, and the outfit! Be who you are, where what makes you feel good! |
Copa: How does health and fitness fit into your lifestyle and why should everyone make this a priority?
Chelly: For me, health, fitness, and fashion goes hand in hand! You can’t have one without the other. I work out 5-6 days a week, in the summer time, I do two a day workouts, because for me, I love the way I look in my clothes! Fashion and Style is everything and my ensemble has to fit 'perfectly.' My driving force behind coming a fitness coach, second to wanting to extend the longevity of my life, is to be able to fit in my clothes. I do not want to have to purchase a brand new wardrobe, so working out is the key, so, yes! Health, fitness, and Fashion go hand and hand, they always will. My 'motto' is when working out, when you look good, you feel good, you work out good, and when you work out good, you ultimately look and feel GREAT in your clothes.

Copa: Do you maintain a strict regimen with your diet and exercise and how do you make it fit into your busy schedule?
Chelly: I do maintain a strict regimen, I drink plenty of water daily, I fast to ensure my sugar, insulin, and metabolism is regulated, I detox the body on a regular basis, which is helpful for cleansing your internal organs to function smoothly. I ensure my diet contains all fresh fruit, vegetables, and ingredients. So, in other words, 'processed' foods are a no no for me.

Copa: As a Wardrobe Stylist, have you seen any recent change in fashion for people who live in the DMV area?
Chelly: Yes, I’ve witness several as it relates to fashion in the DMV. Here, we love our “LABELS, our “Designer BRANDS”, and if you aren’t dripped in labels from head to toe and among the most popular socialites in the DMV, who wear the brands, they you didn’t feel accepted or cool, now I am seeing a change where fashion meets the everyday people, whether it’s the corporate woman to your everyday woman. People are taking their fashion now and we are now 'balling on a budget,' we are prioritizing the way we do things as it relates to fashion. We are realizing that we don’t have to be 'designer down,' or dripped in labels to feel love, cool, and accepted. The fashion industry is making a wave where they are focused on providing and delivering that expensive look for less, in addition, most retail companies are now offering a more affordable way to 'ball on a budget,' they are utilizing companies like after pay, quad pay and more, where you can buy and where now, and divide your payments into smaller increments, making the everyday fashionista feel great, and looking great at the same time. Copa: We also see that you are also a Fitness Coach, would you please share a bit about your services to our readers?
Chelly: I am a Fitness Coach, I provide one on one in person and virtual fitness assessments, personal training sessions, as well as one on one coaching sessions... The coaching model helps to education the average person on health, fitness, nutrition and more. Most people just need that extra push and accountability partner, and that’s where I come in. |
