Copa: Where are you from?
Su'Coy: I'm from the Washington, DC area. Copa: Where did you attend High School?
Su'Coy: I attended the Blue Knights High School which was a fabulous experience. Copa: Were there any courses in High School you really liked at that time?
Su'Coy: Well, I really liked the Gym side of it, I've always found sports exciting. |
Copa: What are some major things you like about business?
Su'Coy: It's all about what the people want and what they need in life, here one will be able to find opportunities.

Copa: What does the community think about you and your businesses?
Su'Coy: The community thinks I'm a superstar, because I own many businesses and wonder how I have time to sleep. Most of all, how I do all of this by myself. Copa: Do many of the parents support what you do for young people in your community and training you provide?
Su'Coy: Yes, many parents love what I do because my school teaches many skills to young people so they can find great paying jobs that are in demand that pay well to make life better in many ways. Copa: Who was the biggest influence on you to begin your business?
Su'Coy: I would say this would be my dad. He told me I would be a good leader and boss someday. It was all about work and leadership and I would follow in his footsteps. I remember when he told me to always spend a little and save a lot. Most importantly one must be a good leader. |
Copa: What are your views about leadership?
Su'Coy: Well, I remember when I was about 10 years old there was a bad snowstorm. I got the idea to get some snow shovels and brooms with a few of my buddies who wanted to make some money. I set up several houses to get their walkways cleaned up and assigned my friends to get the work done. This is when I knew for sure I was a good businessman and a great leader.

Copa: At what time did you establish your HVAC Company?
Su'Coy: I started out 26 years ago with my own dump trunk company I'm the type of person who likes using their hands and mind. Later i attended Lincoln Tech, from the first day I loved the classes. One day I had a problem with my air conditioning system and called for an estimate from a local company to get an estimate. There was a problem with the outside condenser, they charged me about $20,000. I figured I could make that myself
I always liked pluming or HVAC. It's good when you give people something that they need. It's always good to look forward to the future. So, in 1995 I enrolled in Lincoln Tech, this was something I really liked. I received my training from Lincoln Tech, my courses were for an entire year, and I learned much more about the equipment and the industry as a whole.

Copa: What good advice would you give to anyone who wishes to succeed in this life?
Su'Coy: It's very simple really. One must first have the desire to move forward, have a good plan and stick to it.
