Copa: Where are you from?
Cheryl: I'm from Los Angeles, California Copa: At what time did you seriously begin working out?
Cheryl: I've worked out here and there, off and on at various stages of my life. Never had a gym membership but always desired a fit body. Copa: Who influenced you to start competing for Bikini Fitness competition?
Cheryl: Piggyback on the statement that I've always desired a fit body, not just thin but fit. in 2019 I was having inground pool installed. I was not pleased with my body and knew I needed to get this body in bikini condition. I remember seeing this post on IG guaranteed Bikini body in 8 weeks. Well my pool would be complete in 8 weeks, so I gave that trainer a call signed up and got to work. It was after a few sessions the trainer, Shawn Lewis saw how well my body was responding to the workout for my age,63, and it was he who suggested I compete. |
Copa: Was it difficult to prepare for your first and second competition? Please share you experience with our readers.
Cheryl: Preparing for my 1st and 2nd competition was not very challenging. You just have to get your head in the game. Know your goal. As you see your body transition the drive is more intense as you meet your goal. |
Copa: Congratulations on winning more medals at your most recent competition. Which categories did you win in?
Cheryl: My most recent competition, the Peach State Classic 2021, I won 3 medals! I placed 1st Bikini Mom, 4th Bikini Open in which I was the oldest, and the youngest 39! and 1st in Bikini 45 Plus!

Copa: What does the future hold for Cheryl Shiver in her fabulous world of health, exercise, nutrition, and competition?
Cheryl: No one ever really knows what the future holds. What I aspire in my life is to continue to stay fit and healthy by working out and eating clean. I enjoy competing and I will continue as long as my body allows. A thought often runs through my mind, something my Trainer said to me when I said I can't, he said "then run as fast as those old legs will take you" and I smile and push harder. |
Copa: In your personal opinion, how important is health, nutrition, food, and exercise important to everyone over the age of 60?
Cheryl: In my opinion health, nutrition, food, and exercise is important to everyone, especially those over 60? You don't have to have a competitors body, but you should want to be able to climb stairs, take a brisk walk, play with your grand without aches and pains and heavy breathing. Not to mention real health issues. We should all want to be med free. I am. Copa: Do you find that many people are surprised to find that you're 66 years of age?
Cheryl: Undoubtedly many people are surprised that I am 66. and no, I am not surprised I'm proud! |
