Coach KG Gilliam
~ Author/Speaker/Power Coach ~

Copa: Where are you from?
Karen: I was born in Newport News, VA but raised in Hampton. Copa: What schools have you attended and degrees you've acquired?
Karen: I attended elementary, junior and high school in Hampton. I have an Associates degree from Thomas Nelson Community College in Hampton. Copa: Who are the top 2 people who inspired you and how?
Karen: The two people who inspired me are my mother and my first mentor, Rosalie Medjesky. My mother was a disciplinarian especially since I was the eldest child. Even though I didn’t agree I respected her and loved how she was so benevolent towards family. I learned to take care of your family from her. Rosalie was my first mentor in business. She believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. Her belief sparked a passion to be my own boss and go after my dreams. |
Copa: How long have you've been a Coach and what is your specific focus?
Karen: I started as a mentor before “coaching” was recognized. My focus in different capacities was to empower, educate, encourage, elevate, and escalate women to be their best selves and learn to life their lives by design and not settle for default. I help them live in alignment with their assignment. It has been over 23 years.

Copa: What encouraged you to pen your first book "Queen Warrior- Crown Bound?"
Karen: I wrote and authored my first book after being a caregiver for my husband of 43 years after he was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma. With the help and strength from God, I was able to be his advocate with the medical staff and insurance company. I remained strong during this process. After he passed, I realized that I was not a “widow” as the world perceives a woman who has lost her husband. A “widow” is perceived to be weak, vulnerable, depressed and can’t seem to go on with her life. A dear friend said when she sees me she sees a Queen Warrior. I am a regal woman who knows my value. I continue the legacy Brian and I started. I am the matriarch of my family. I wrote the book to share my story with other women who may go through the same thing. I also encourage them to have their affairs in order and know their rights.
