Copa: What encouraged you to move to the Washington, area?
Dr. Sharon: I simply needed a change. I was born and raised in North Carolina and even attended college in my hometown.
One of my line sisters lived in Fort Washington, MD with her best friend from high school. They had an extra bedroom in their apartment. She told me to come and find a job once I got here. I began working at Fort Foote Elementary School as a second grade teacher.

Copa: What influenced you to become involved in the field of coaching?
Dr. Sharon: My first coaching experience was as a Leadership Development Coach for novice principals in one of the largest school districts in the Washington DC area. In 2017, I assessed the network and realized I needed to move in a new direction. Today, the GRIND Entrepreneur Network focuses on the "Edupreneur," Educators who are or aspire to become entrepreneurs. "Edupreneurs" are now the primary focus of the GRIND Entrepreneur Network. Copa: In your professional opinion, what makes a good entrepreneur?
Dr. Sharon: An entrepreneur who is able to continually "Act, Assess, and Adjust" will always become better at and in their business. Entrepreneurs who complete Quarterly Reviews, have regular conversations and sessions with a mentor and/or coach, and make the appropriate change to course correct will find success as an entrepreneur.

Dr. Sharon: I am absolutely amazed at the joy and satisfaction experienced hosting The "I Am Dr. Sharon Show." I come to life when I have the opportunity to interview amazing educators, authors, entrepreneurs, and members of the greater Washington, DC community.

Copa: Please, tell our readers about your show, topics and some of your favorite guests.
Dr. Sharon: The "I Am Dr. Sharon Show" highlights educators, authors, entrepreneurs, community members and organizations. I was honored to have Angela Alsobrooks as a guest, the first female States Attorney for Prince George's County and now the first female County Executive for Prince George's County. It was also a treat to have Jamar Prince, an up and coming musical artist from Howard University who also happens to be the son of Gospel Artist, Marvin Sapp, as a guest. The Singing Rams of Winston-Salem State University, under the direction of Maestra D'Walla Simmons Burke was definitely a highlight, as well as the cast of The Reason Why, the stage play based on the book of the same title by Nicole McKay.
I was also fortunate to have authors from two of my book anthologies, Women Who Lead Extraordinary Women With Extraordinary Achievements and Class of 2017 What's Next as well as a a book I published, You Don't Know Our Stories From Trials to Triumph.
I am ecstatic about a new monthly educational segment that will feature Powerhouse educators discussing all things educational...Education FIRST. The launch celebration is Friday, December 14 and the segment debuts, Sunday, December 16 from 10:00 am -11:00 am EST on urbanstylemedia.com.
