The Crown and the Crow was the place to be Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. JeanAnne Roberts produced and hosted the "Singles in the City DC!" The restaurant was not easy to find. There is a small sign without wording at the front of the establishment. Walking down the stairs to the venue I greeted the hostess and found a seat to watch the show. JeanAnne started the show promptly and introduced her co-host and one of the entertainers of the evening Debra Ovall. It was a glamorous event where the ladies up front wore glittery gowns. First up was the Bachelorette who wore a hot pink gown, Megan Eunpu who is also Miss DC for America 2019. Megan had two bachelors to choose from. Megan was announced and made a grand entrance down the center aisle of the venue. Then she went behind a screen so that she could not see the bachelors that she was asking questions to. While a few questions were asked the bachelor that was not chosen when asked what his favorite pick-up line? He said do you have a mirror in your pants because I can see myself there. While that was cringy to all, the other bachelor was chosen.
Wedding dress designer Irina Ciobanu Megan Eunpu was a very generous sponsor of the evening donating two brand new wedding gowns. One to each couple. She let them know that the gown certificate is good for five years! It was dramatic to watch one of her designs that she had with her that evening be modeled by Alexandra Lamandi.

Other entertainment included CJ and Julia Chong doing a martial arts performance. Julia Is Mrs. Maryland America 2021. Jennifer Wakefield was interviewed about how pageantry relates to finding love. Wakefield has about 20 local crowns and 1 large crown for being crowned Mrs. Maryland International 2019. Like when you have to kiss a lot of toads (the small crown) and then find your prince (the large crown) Wakefield was also asked if she believes in love at first sight? Her answer to that was no. While there definitely can be attraction at first sight, love takes time, understanding, living life and going through things together to develop and grow love. JeanAnne wanted everyone to know that she indeed does believe in love at first sight. Musical entertainment was top notch by Debra Ovall, Ivy Robinson and Roroyone. Mrs. DC America 2022, Gift Hughes was interviewed on stage and asked how she fell in love with her husband.

The second event of the evening was for bachelor, Cemo Basen. While he was introduced, he went behind the screen so he could not see who was answering what. He had four bachelorettes to choose from. Some of his questions were: Would you chose love or money? He asked one lady to sing, and she sang "Dream a Dream" of You and blew us all away – maybe that was planned? At the end of the questioning Cemo chose Sara.
Both couples will now go to brunch at their chosen time together. They were both gifted jewelry from a sponsor as well. It was a star-studded show with many beauty queens from the past few years and current title holders as well. |
