Actor and Dr. Richard Fleming interview with Copa Style Magazine.
I was raised in Waterloo, Iowa and I was the youngest of three children. During Elementary school I sang, acted and danced along with playing baseball and basketball. Where I lived, we were tested yearly beginning around ages of 4-5 for aptitude, I.Q. and specific skills regarding what to do during survival scenarios. During 7th grade approximately 30 of us were selected for advanced placement which began immediately based upon our results of those tests. My area was Physics and included specialized training, education, and development of lasers and particle physics.
2. When did you decide you wanted to be an Actor?
I originally decided to be an Actor in elementary school. Life’s detour began in 7th grade and it was only about 4-years ago that I had the opportunity to actively pursue acting.
3. What have been your favorite roles?
I’ve had the opportunity to be in a variety of roles, from the father who was molesting his teenage daughter, the hostage negotiator, Wizard, Doctor, Lawyer, and Buddhist Monk to name a few.
4. When did you get your first break?
My first break was really when I came to LA to be part of an acting, singing and dance competition. As a result, a Talent Agent asked to interview me and during the competition, I made the final selection of singers who performed for a packed auditorium.
6. Is there any synergy between your life and acting?
I think being a good Actor requires, the ability to find within oneself the person you are bringing to life. So absolutely everything I have done up to this point in my life and everything I will ever do is what I draw upon to bring my character to life.
7. What makes a great Actor?
A great Actor is when you watch them, and it doesn’t make you feel like you’re watching something but rather they make you feel like you are there; participating in their life.
8. Tell us about your recent roles.
There really have been a number of them and instead of leaving someone out, I would like to simply refer people to my IMDb site, where they will not only get information about myself but information about numerous people I’ve had the privilege to work with.

9. You are a Physicist. Tell us briefly about your background.
This came with that little Government experiment during the 1960s when the Federal Government, beginning with the JFK Administration, started worrying about falling behind other nations in science and mathematics. So they took a few of us little mutants and started accelerating our training and learning curves. Out of the 30 in our group, I remember 12 completing the program 6-years later. I have to smile when I think about what they let us do. My first night they sent me home with triple distilled mercury to go home and make a mercury vapor lamp. You can only imagine what we did after that.
10. Tell us about your recent patent B.E.S.T Imaging.
B.E.S.T. stands for Breast Enhanced Scintigraphy Test Imaging. It is a patented test I developed to take advantage of differences in tissue and to measure those differences. Unlike the interpretation of results made by physicians, referred to as “qualitative”, B.E.S.T. “measures” these differences and “quantifies” them, removing human error and provides the first truly Artificial Intelligence system, which learns from itself. It is the only test that will find breast cancer sooner but finds the changes leading up to breast cancer increasing treatment options.
11. Share with us your background in medicine. What were the pivotal moments?
Medicine, like most other things, is the result of what others have done before you and what you can learn from them and add to it. For me, I’ve had many opportunities to be in the right place at the right time and learn from some of the best, and some of the worse people imaginable. My major areas of focus, owing to pivotal points in my life related to heart failure treatment, my work with the American Heart Association and what causes heart disease. Also my work in Nuclear Cardiology including anti-matter imaging, with the development of the “Inflammation and Heart Disease” and “Angina” theories, errors made in nuclear imaging and in coronary arteriography. My work with diets and their impact on heart disease, and finally the development of the first patented method for “measuring” our health and disease and being able to “measure” if your treatment is working; saving time, money and lives.
12. If you could have one wish what would it be?
For people to treat each other like they wanted to be treated.
13. What roles are you looking for in 2019?
I currently have three roles scheduled for 2019, including the fallen angel Purah, Police Commissioner Parker and Hitler’s Astrologer Karl Ernst Krafft.
14. What should a Director expect when working with you?
I expect a Director to tell me what they are looking for. My goal is to understand the entire project being produced and who I really am in this project. Once I have that, I will find that within me and bring the character to life. A Director’s job is to tell me what they are looking for, so I can find it. I expect an open relationship to discuss and try options and to find what will make the production the best.
