David Furman Fashion Show Part 2
~ Benefit for "We Will Survive Cancer" ~

Copa: We Will Survive Cancer presented another 'fabulous' fundraiser Gayela, how long did it take to a plan and who chose this wonderful venue?
Gayela: Planning for the David Yurman Fashion Show began in April when I first met with David Yurman store representatives. As you can imagine coordinating a time and date with David Yurman’s store and corporate office, security, McLaren and We Will Survive Cancer was challenging and detailed.

Copa: David Yurman was a great sponsor with his spectacular jewelry to auction. Please tell our readers about the where the models were from and the fabulous Designer who provided the stunning black garments.
Gayela: AF Talent Management provided the stunning models. The agency is the product of Chelsea Cushing and her husband Kenny. “AF Talent Management (AFTM) introduces and provides guidance into the model business for the aspiring model!”

Copa: Who was the designer who created those spectacular garments for the show?
Gayela: Sonia Garbarino designed the dresses for the models – each look was different, elegant and fit the style and personality of the model. Sonia Garbarino is an international fashion designer born in Paraguay with over 30 years of experience. She was inspired by the "Sophisticated Gothic Vanguard" style, which focuses on imposing and modern design for women of all ages. While this inspires her work, she can tailor her designs to each client's needs. Currently based in Washington, D.C., Her work has been featured in designer shows and theatres across the globe. Sonia Garbarino uses her creative energy to ensure her clientele's expectations are satisfied. Her designs emphasize on security, authenticity, elegance, character, uniqueness, and style.
Sonia designed my dress – which was actually planned around my boots – that’s my MO, Rodney – I plan my outfits around my shoes – have been doing it all my life since I was a child. Influenced by my mother who loved shoes!
To make an appointment with Sonia, call 571-442-3516.
Lawrence Clothier dressed the men – I thought his designs and fabrics were - I want to say gorgeous but that’s probably not the best choice of words for guys.
Per Lawrence Clothier website “In fashion, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but
quality should never be a compromise. No matter what you’re looking for, we guarantee durability. We are committed to providing you styles that are well-built and will last through the wear and tear of your day.”

Copa: The food was quite interesting and tasty as well with the creative cone display of charcuterie wall display, and the dessert table. Who catered these wonderful delights?
Gayela: Elite Events, LLC was the creator of the cone charcutier and cheese. Elite Events LLC can be contacted on 240-756-6788. Michael Aguilar is a very engaging representative of Elite Events – he provided the beautiful charcuterie displays from the We Will Survive Cancer Gala in March.

Copa: Please tell us a bit about who set the pace with the musical entertainment for the event.
Gayela: John Saylor and I were at an event honoring Dr. Renee’ Allen in October, one of the performers for the event played the saxophone. As you know, the saxophone is sultry, sexy and clearly defines luxury. I called our friend Warren Shadd for a recommendation – Warren gave us the fabulous young and upcoming saxophonist Langston Hughes II. The music had to be coordinated with the models so at their walk through, Langston provided the link to his music which the models were asked to slow their pace and show their sexy sultry side. Chelsea Cushing, owner of AFT, did a fabulous job of coaching, and made it happen.

Copa: I'm sure there are others you would like to mention at this time who helped to make this fundraising a great success.
Gayela: Josie Valdez and Valdez Management, produced the event. Josie’s Glam Squad Team, provided hair, make-up, Chelsea Cushing, AFT Management, provided and hand-selected the models Michael Aguilar of Elite Events, LLC – provided the scene and the food, McLaren and Suzanne Xu, and her fabulous staff hosted the event, and made everyone welcome and of course Zuly De Sousa, Marketing Manager, Elizabeth Fischetti, Regional Manager, Tom Halloran, Paul Tinsley, Gregory Michael, Hugo Garcia, Michelle Garcia, Claudia Kelley, Claudia Kern, and Keisha Morton of David Yurman of Tyson’s Galleria, provided the magnificent jewelry that captured the thoughts and minds of everyone in the showroom.
I want to add David Yurman will give 10% of proceeds of jewelry purchased the week of November 13-19th, to We Will Survive Cancer. Those shoppers should mention We Will Survive Cancer to the Brand Representative when they shop.
Thank you as always Rodney Wayne Branche for your friendship and for always supporting We Will Survive Cancer.
