Looking Fabulous For The Holidays
By Marta Bota
The holidays are HERE! Yes, the most WONDERFUL time of the year! I want to wish all my readers a joyful and safe holiday season!
As we go into the holidays full force we are busier than ever! We attend gatherings with family and friends, cultural events, office parties and the most festive days ahead...Christmas and New Year’s celebrations! With all these events on our calendar you want to look your very best! Here are some great ways to add some oomph to your makeup routine!
I can never stress enough how important it is to have a good skin regimen! It is THE foundation of great makeup! Be sure to exfoliate the dry skin 2-3 times a week! I love Amore Pacific Treatment Enzyme Peel . It is gentle enough to use everyday and you won’t get the redness that can sometimes come with exfoliating. It will leave your skin smooth and flawless and ready for your moisturizing creams!

If you will be wearing strappy little dresses this holiday season you may want to get a spray tan or two over the season. A professional tan is always best, but if you don’t want to spend the extra cash go for an at home treatment. I love St Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse. Just be sure to exfoliate your body before the tanning product and moisturize daily with St Tropez Tan Enhancing Body Moisturizer. This will extend your tan this time of year, when the skin is a bit drier, and will keep your tan even as it fades.
For a beautiful holiday makeup for your office parties keep it professional but with a touch of glamour. Adding a bit more blush and eye shadow than usual, and perhaps a shimmer shadow on the lid, will give you the look you want to achieve. This adds some glam but keeps it professional. I love Urban Decay’s “Naked” palettes. They have several ones to choose from and they definitely add some pop to your eyes!
For your special events, especially for NYE, this year why not pull out all the stops! Always start your makeup with flawless looking skin! A great concealer and foundation to cover any imperfections, and powder to set it will achieve this look. Once you have this base then you can start adding the glam! I like to sculpt the face in a subtle manner with bronzing powder. I love Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer Powder. It’s a soft way to contour and smells like chocolate, so it definitely satisfies my cravings with no extra calories!
Let’s add some eyeshadows to really give you that sexy look for a night out on the town! Motives are my favorite eyeshadows these days! They are mineral based pressed powder shadows with just the right amount of pigment, and glide on beautifully, making them very user friendly for the non professional! I also love the color selection and palette sets! I absolutely LOVE their glitter pots! They come in metallic shades of gold and silver, as well as a wide variety of other shades. Glitter looks really beautiful when you add it to the eyelid after you’ve completed your other eyeshadow! It is so festive and looks amazing on a smoky eye!
This season the hottest trend is a highlighting sheen on the face. This technique is very popular and is also known as “strobing”. Benefit High Beam looks beautiful on the cheekbones, and any other areas that you want to highlight!
To complete your look think about pulling it all together with a great lip color! I love reds when doing a simple eye. Neutral eyeshadow, a winged liner and faux lashes add glamour but don’t overwhelm the face when you are wearing red lipstick. There are so many great lip colors that help give you that festive look! My favorite red lip color is MAC Ruby Woo because it truly looks great on everyone! When your eyeshadow is dramatic it’s best to keep the lip simple and nude. A nude lip color that flatters just about every skin tone is Dior Rouge Dior Lip Color in Angelique Beige.
My final tip for holiday glam is a setting spray. I absolutely LOVE Motives Ten Years Younger Spray! It sets your makeup all day and night and leaves the skin looking dewy and luminous!
Enjoy looking fab this season and have a beautiful and safe holiday!
