Copa: Where did you meet your husband?
Erana: We met at work back in 1993. We both were very young I was in a serious relationship at the time living with my then boyfriend (daughters father). Jamie was single/dating. We worked in same building, separate offices. It wasn’t a love at first sight story (However, maybe for him lol) He asked a co-worker to arranged a lunch date for us. She asked and I said yes, why not! Our first date was lunch at Wendys! Great conversation, we exchanged phone numbers and begin talking everyday. The lunch dates also continued.

Copa: Where and when did he propose to you?
Erana: He proposed to me in 1995 I was living with my girlfriend in an apartment building. He surprised me and placed the ring in the mailbox. He begged me to go to the mailbox that night. I went down, opened it up and to my surprise there was my engagement ring. He didn’t get on one knee. However he sat me down on the steps outside of my apartment and asked me to marry him. |
Copa: What is your definition of a loving relationship?
Erana: Completely opening up and sharing your feelings and life with them daily, that’s what constitutes a health, loving relationship. But, it must be mutual. James and I do date nights on Thursdays and we share major life decisions and choices. Encourage healthy communication and dialogue.
We believe, if a particular area is lacking on either side of the relationship, it makes it unideal and unhealthy. Things won’t always be great. Your spouse may do things that will make you angry, but if you are willing to not look at it as obstacles, but rather as opportunities for growth, then thats love. Participating in each other’s learning and growth. As our spouses grow, we grow, too. Support your spouse. We both have started separate businesses that have prospered and failed. No matter the outcome or how things are going, we still support one another.
Trust each other without question. Without trust, your relationship will not last. Be able to let things go and move on. Life is all about change and transition. Nothing stays still or the same, as much as we may sometimes want it to because it makes us feel more secure and safe. Inevitably, the twists and turns of life will find their way into each and every relationship, and as partners, we need to find a way through to the next part of the journey.

Copa: At what time did you establish your Real Estate Investment business?
Erana: Our Real Estate business was established in 2019. However, 10 years ago we had a property that we purchased and rented out for a couple of years.

Copa: In your opinion, why is Real Estate Investment so important?
Erana: Real Estate is a great way to earn passive income, stable cash-flow and tax advantages. Real Estate is Generational Wealth. Residual Income, owning properties that can be passed down to your kids. Currently we are doing house flipping. We make great income by buying reasonably priced properties adding value by renovating them. A Significant return in a short period of time. Our next project will be a rental property to accumulate passive monthly income. |

Copa: How do you balance being a wife, mother and running several successful businesses at the same time?
Erana: Well, its a little easier now the kids are grown. We have 3 kids all over 20 years old. That makes it much easier versus having younger kids. I still have to make time for family. I've been working from home for the last 8 years now. That allows me to be home with my family. However, in the last couple of years, I've added on new business ventures. Fitness, Credit Repair, on line clothing Boutique and now Real Estate. It may appear that I’m working sun up to sun down, but I don’t have the time or energy. I need my sanity. I kind of stick to a schedule. That works best for me. However, things do come up and I have to switch my day around but that doesn’t happen to often. I normally like to enjoy the weekends with family and friends. Even as a Entrepreneur I have days solely dedicated to my family.

Copa: By the way, how do you maintain your magnificent movie star appearance?
Erana: I've always been into fashion. My mom always said I took after my dad. He was into his appearance, very attractive guy, always looking in the mirror at himself. Its in my blood. Even in High School I was voted Best Dressed & Most Attractive.I remember being in Middle School not wanting to go to school because I wanted to always have on something new. High School I wore the fliest clothes, high heels, big jewelry, and the luxury name brand purses. Graduating from High School I maintained the same expensive taste. Always something new, luxury purses, shoes, etc. Because we stay in the lime light, I have to look my best. I love to look nice, dress up, change my hair. It makes me feel good! I have women who reach out to me all the time about my appearance and how I inspire them. Now don’t get me wrong, although I like to dress up most of the time, you will find me in my sweats, baseball cap and sneakers time to time. Especially when I’m in work mode. |
Copa: How does it feel being chosen as Copa Style Magazine's "2020 Couple of the Year?”
Erana: We are truly honored and excited!! With all that's going on in the world right now, this was great news to receive. To also hear that many suggested us to Copa Style Magazine felt amazing! We strive to inspire many people. We want others to look at us and say “because of you guys, my husband and I are building a business together” or “Watching you guys on social media, we decided to work on our marriage and incorporate date nights just like you guys” Whatever it may be, we are blessed to inspire may people.

Copa: What does the future hold for you both in your lives of business and pleasure?
Erana: We would like to continue our venture in Real Estate. We actually really enjoy it! My husband will be retiring from his full time job as a DC Detective in less than 2 years. I know that real estate investing is something he’s passionate about. He will also continue his business with J&J Entertainment as Event/Party promoter. James and his partner are actually working on some upcoming events. I may take a break from the fitness industry for a while and focus more on Real Estate investing. As it requires a lot of time finding properties, rehabbing, etc. We look forward to retiring from it all one day with no worries. And enjoying the fruits of our labor. We love to travel more this year. Live and enjoy life as much as possible. |
