Copa: What two main things interest you about Science as it relates to the world around us?
Ingrid: Science is a way to investigate, improve or correct previous ideas about the world. Science also involves higher thinking. As the world around us change, the technology of science improves new ways of dealing with our world issues.

Copa: In your opinion, why do you think that many kids today don't really focus on Science, Mathematics and Engineering like many other kids around the world especially countries who are much more economically less vibrant than America?
Ingrid: In America many kids are not encouraged to focus on Science and Mathematics. Some parents don’t stress how important it is for kids to focus on those subjects as much as other countries. What I’ve learned from many co-workers in the Engineering field from other countries, they are taught early on that Science and Mathematics are the main subjects in landing a great career opportunity.

Copa: What can we do get our young people back on track with their studies?
Ingrid: We can encourage our young people to focus on education. We can provide more mentorship programs, volunteering our services to assist in any way possible. Copa: This is the big question....Do we as parents really make our kid's education a PRIORITY in the U.S., especially in the DMV?
Ingrid: I can’t speak for everyone but the parents I surround myself with are very involved with their kid’s education. I think it all depends on each parent’s situation, environment, etc.

Copa: What can we do now to 'light the fire' to make learning 'special' to our young people?
Ingrid: We can become more involved and push kids to their greatest potential. I also think we should limit the amount of time young people spend on social media, playing online games and get back to basic.
