"Model Insight"
By Ronke Ogunmokun
I’m sure most models know that there’s always an upside as well as a down side that comes with the model business. A lot of people don’t know that there is plenty of blood sweat and tears that goes on behind the scenes. This Fashion world can be indeed no joke at times, which is one of the main reasons it’s important to be well informed on many valuable tips that can not only save you some major money, but also help lead you down the right path.
I’ve been blessed to have been doing this for some time now and one thing I have learned is you definitely need a support system more than anything as there will be times when you need a shoulder to cry on or maybe just a listening ear as you air out your much needed vents. It’s also imperative to have a few guidance friends in the business who may be more experienced or knowledgeable about certain matters.
Ask any major successful person who is extremely passionate about their craft what or who inspired them and listen to what they say. The point is: any artist, model, entrepreneur or highly successful person that is GREAT at what they do has once been a little boy or girl who followed someone that somehow captured their eyes in amazement. And it was then when a little star was born. Naomi Campbell says it best "I would ask Katoucha and Dalma - the real divas of the runway - 'Can you show me?' I've never been afraid to ask for help."
My purpose as a columnist here with Copa Style Magazine is to be a voice to many inspired upcoming models and even to the accomplished to never let go of your inner smile no matter what it is that you’re doing in this life. Sometimes we can lose our creative spark when were somewhere lost in the world of “normal” everyday life. (go to work, go to school, cook for the family, go to sleep, wake up and do it all over again)I’m here to REMIND you who you are and to remember to do simple little things you did as a child that makes you light up in complete laughter. What makes you happy? Whatever that is you need to be doing it and finding ways to turn your happiness into your career. I’m also here to share a bit of insight from shared experiences in fashion shows/ events either behind the scenes or attending as a guest model. Get to know me Ronke Ogunmokun every month as I share model insight.
