Copa: Where are you from?
Mikell: I am originally from Maine, but recently moved back to the DC Metro area after living in Serbia and Croatia for six years for my husband's career with the U.S. government. Copa: How long did you live in Serbia and Croatia and why were you there?
Mikell: I lived in Croatia for three years, then we moved next door to Serbia for three years. My husband and I worked in the U.S. Embassies there. Copa: Please tell us about some of the wonderful places you've visited around Europe over the years. I believe you have shared some wonderful photos with Copa Style.
Mikell: Living in Europe makes it fairly easy and not too expensive to travel to surrounding countries and explore. While living in Croatia and Serbia, we were lucky to travel to many countries across Europe, including Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, Bosnia, North Macedonia, Malta, Italy, Montenegro, Albania, Hungary, France, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic and Greece. One of my favorite cities in Europe and in the world that I have traveled to is Paris. Its a beautiful city, filled with art, beautiful architecture, amazing food, fashion and of course champagne! Copa: Was this a scheduled return home for you and your family?
Mikell: Yes, after five tours overseas for my husband, it was time for him to return to DC to work and we were excited to get back to the USA to be closer to family and friends and for me to work on expanding my pageant coaching business. Copa: We know you hail from the great state of Maine, but how do you like living in Northern Virginia?
Mikell: I love my home state of Maine because its where I was born and raised and where all of my extended family is, however, I enjoy living in Northern Virginia for the proximity to DC and all the events and opportunities this area has to offer. I love living in cities! Copa: It was great bumping into you at the Gatsby Showcase Fashion Show at the Kennedy Center two weeks ago, how did you enjoy the show?
Mikell: I loved the show and the event. It's hard to pass up any event that combines fashion, glamour and charity for me! |

Copa: I believe you have attended other fabulous fashionable events. Would you like to mention a few to our many readers?
Mikell: Yes, I am lucky that as a pageant Queen and coach and lover of fashion and modeling, I often get to attend some incredible events. In the last few years, I have been lucky to attend NYFW events and shows, Milan Fashion Week shows and most recently here, modeled in the Royal Thai Embassy National Day Fashion show at the Fairmont Hotel in Georgetown. This event showcased traditional Thai designs with a modern flair from Aksarapak Bondu and beautiful jewelry designed in a traditional Thai style by Siam Exclusive Gems.
The event was attended by the Thai Ambassador to the United States as well as diplomats from across the globe.

Copa: It's great to see you hit the ground running with your Pageant Coaching business, Carroll Crown Consulting. Please tell us more about it and what it is you provide specifically to clients?
Mikell: Thanks Rodney, it's great to be back in this area to really concentrate on expanding my pageant coaching business. With over 26 years of experience in pageantry and having held multiple titles, from Mrs. Maine International, Mrs. Northwest DC, Mrs. District of Columbia USA Universe, International Ms. USA, World's Mrs. Tourism and most recently Ms. USA Universe; I know what it takes to prepare for and win in pageantry. I have been lucky to coach women at the state, national and international levels of competition. Some of my most recent clients to win were Mrs. Universal Petite 2023, Ms. Galaxy Australia 2023, Ms. New Jersey International 2023, Ms, California USOA 2023, Mrs. World America Petite, International Ms. USA 2023 and American Miss National Mrs., Ms. Teen and Young Miss. My coaching business, Carroll Crown Consulting, offers full-service pageant coaching. This includes coaching in: branding, platform development, interview, walking, wardrobe selection, marketing and social media presence, confidence and stage presence to name a few. My goal with each client is to help them highlight and showcase their individuality and strengths while also being sure they are best prepared for all aspects of the competition they are competing in. I want to help every client be their very best self and create a year to remember! I do this through individualized plans and by thoroughly researching each pageant system to be sure my clients are prepared for all aspects of their pageant experience. I also help each woman reach their highest potential by building confidence within them and then showing them how to radiate that confidence to the judges as well as utilizing my experience as an attorney to strategically lead their pageant interview. I was honored to recently be named by Pageant Planet as a Top 20 Pageant Coach of 2023. Pageant Planet is a leading global authority on all things pageantry, so this is an incredible endorsement to achieve!
