As a seasoned makeup artist it’s critical for me to keep up with trends in fashion, beauty, and makeup. For me to service my clients as best as I can I must be current in all things beauty! I must be familiar with the latest technology in products, the newest cameras for still photography, film and video, and the latest in makeup styles so that I can make these adjustments in my makeup applications.
"Staying on Trend with Makeup"
By Marta Bota
Makeup is not only my profession it’s my addiction! Keeping up with trends is not only informative, it’s fun for me! How do I keep up with the latest in makeup trends? I look through fashion magazines, catalogues of high end department stores, what the Hollywood stars are wearing on the red carpet and of course the hottest looks on the runway! This helps me stay ahead of the curve at all times!
I love seeing what’s fresh off the runways! With NYFW in full swing I can share what’s trending for the Spring 2016 season ahead, but for now let’s talk about Fall and Winter makeup for 2015/16! This upcoming season has some continuing trends that have been holding strong for the past few seasons and some new cutting edge looks!
Some of the past few season’s makeup styles are holding strong and steady! The strong defined eyebrow, cat eye, and red lip are still trending! Rich burgundy, wines, and even black lips are going to be seen around town this upcoming Fall/Winter season!
When it comes to eyeliner the winged cat eye is still popular, but a very thin line, just defining the upper lid is making a comeback. Lining the entire lid, top and bottom is also a hot look! “Graphic liner”, a liner to shade the lid is a bold new statement look and different variations of the smoky eye continue to stay current!
Dewy complexions by adding gloss to the cheeks, chin, and nose are really hot this season! Brighter foundations and the naked, no makeup look is hot too!
These are some of Fall and Winters newest looks! My clients range in all ages, ethnicities, and have a wide variety of professions. I always advise that they wear what’s appropriate for their age, lifestyle, and can modify any of the trendy looks to fit their own personal style!
