Copa: Where are you from?
Emily: Sao Paulo, Brazil .
Copa: How long have you been a lover of fashion?
Emily: Since I was about 4 and in touch with the stage life. Growing up dancing ballet, jazz, steps and later, belly dancing. I was always in touch with my artistic side knowing and knew exactly what suited me and what I was going to wear.

Copa: In your opinion, how has fashion changed in the past 5 years?
Emily: The most prominent Fashion changes have happened over the past decade I would say. Fashion is not only big business but the marketing and exposure of it crosses more boundaries. It includes comparative life styles of people we look to who inspire us such as bloggers and social media apps that combine complete beauty looks, trends and what to wear. The need to copy and to look alike has quadrupled. The collaboration between designers, stores, and celebrities has changed the way how fashion is viewed, presented and SOLD.

Copa: I see there will be a few changes in your upcoming "Georgetown Fashion Show." How did this come about?
Emily: The original “Splash at the Waterfront” that I created and produced for three years was solely for my brand D’Milikah Beachwear.
The Georgetown Fashion Show grew from the initial intent after it became clear this show grew to be too big for simply just one brand. I thought it would be a good way to introduce and showcase more of the fashion talent from the Washington DC area of other local and international designers as well, making this show bigger, better, stronger and more influential. It has become the inspiration for larger fashion and local shows, including DC swim week.

Copa: How did you find these great designers?
Emily: This year we will have a lineup of amazing designers from Ghana, US, Ukraine, Russia, and Brazilian representation which is me and many local businesses. The goal is to show that our nation’s capital is special and our diverse culture here is of style and taste!

Copa: Please share the names of the participants in the show.
Emily: A lot of work goes into a show such as this and my team and I are blessed to have the trust of many local model agencies, celebrities, local and international hair stylists, designers, and assistance from the best in production, from the DMV fashion world. Not to mention the support of the best photographers and media in our town. It is almost impossible to mention everyone who is involved, but many thanks, and due to Nick (Nicks Riverside Grill owner) Roche Salon and Georgetown Bid itself, I’m able to trigger and push this show each year to another level.
