Copa: Where are you from?
Mylanta: I was born and raised from Gulfport, Mississippi. It's a great place to swim, fish, eat great seafood and work hard for yourself. Copa: Which schools have you attended?
Mylanta: I have attended West Elementary, Gulfport Central Middle Schools. My class 2004 was the first one that ever graduated from Gulfport Central Middle Schools . I went on to graduate from Gulfport high School and then studied at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College where I graduated with my Associates degree. I also attended John Casablanca Modeling School in Atlanta. I later returned to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College where I received my license as a Certified Nurse Assistant. Copa: At what time did you develop an interest in Fashion?
Mylanta: I had to be about 7 years old when one of my teachers came to my mom and suggested that I needed to be modeling. I didn't know anything about Fashion or modeling, I always dressed in baggy clothes or like a Tom boy. I didn't like dresses, I always wore turtlenecks. I didn't like people looking at me and I was quite shy as well. Copa: Who or what encouraged you to enter the world of modeling?
Mylanta: My sister encouraged me to move further into modeling. Through time she observed that this would be way to open up a shy girl and help me build confidence. |
Copa: How would you describe your first photo-shoot?
Mylanta: During my first photo-shoot I was kind of nervous at first because I didn't know what to do. My photographer guided me on some pointers. I took what directions he gave me and tried not to over think any pose. I became more comfortable and confident towards the end. The photographer kept speaking with me, this relaxed me by making me laugh. He did that so i can become more comfortable with him. We ended up with some fabulous shots. |
Copa: Who are your favorite 3 models of all time?
Mylanta: My 3 favorite models are:
* Naomi Campbell - because of her smooth dark features that convinced me that there was a great possibility that could also grace runways and covers of popular fashion magazines.
* Tyra Banks - I love the way she taught me to smile with my eyes and how to create a special style to my poses. Most of all, she maintains a fierce walk.
* Imani - Statuesque and beautiful. I love her wonderful skin as well. It's smooth and captures wonderful photos and emphasizes the details of her interesting bone structure around her face.
As you can see, there are many attributes in these models that I find in myself that makes me the model I am today.

Copa: How would you describe your experiences when participating in Fashion Shows?
Mylanta: My experience in walking in Fashion Shows has been amazing. I get so excited and calm at the same time. I'm always looking to see how the runway is set up for the event. Afterwards, I pray and convince myself that I can handle this. Sometimes, the activities back stage can be a bit frustrating. At times the organizers don't have a stylist or makeup artist available. I've already learned some quick styling techniques and how to apply my own makeup when necessary. One must always be prepared come ready with hair and makeup.
Copa: What are your personal views on Fashion?
Mylanta: I Really love Avant-garde. I like finding clothes that have a more sophisticated upscale style.
