Copa: Where are you from?
Cynthia: I was born and raised in Riverhead, New York. A small town on Long island. Copa: What was your first experience in modeling?
Cynthia: After graduating high school I won a modeling contract with a Long Island based agency. I modeled professionally through the 80's and 90's. Then my agent decided to change her life goals, I went back to school and became a Medical Assistant. I've worked in the medical field for the past 28 years. |
Copa: What were some of your early influences with fashion activities?
Cynthia: I can't say I was into fashion growing up. I was a true "TOMBOY". Trees, motorcycles, dirt bombs!!! I guess I was 15yrs old when my sister started buying me clothes and I would dress up and hangout with her. It was during this time that I truly realized how gifted my mother was. She would make these beautiful dresses and send them off to the city to be sold by different designers. Anything that I saw celebrities wearing on TV she would make. I was amazed! This is when she really started teaching me how to sew.

Copa: At what time did you establish your first business?
Cynthia: I registered a DBA many years ago. My mom and I always talked about starting a business. It didn't really manifest until she past in 2015. I wanted to pay homage to her and build a brand that she would be proud of. It's her legacy and it keeps her near me..always. 5. I would describe my brand's clothing as classic. All of my designs start with a classic base and then I add my style to them. This way they don't go out of style for years. 6. I've been waiting like the rest of New York during the pandemic. But I did produce 2 promo videos of my resort collection. I rented a yacht and an exotic sports car owned by Hot97 DJ Magic, put together an amazing team of models, photographer, videographer, Hairstylist and makeup artist. It was definitely the highlight of 2020 for all of us.

Copa: What have you learned so far about being part of the Fashion Industry?
Cynthia: It really taught me to think outside the box. I'm still relatively new to the fashion industry and the pandemic has everyone rethinking and reinventing their businesses. I think I've done a good job! Copa: What does the future hold for Cynthia and her marvelous world of Fashion & Style?
Cynthia: I never envisioned any of this for me. I wanted nothing more then to make beautiful clothes and use this gift that my mom passed on to me. Fashion week, the awards, the publications..that's God and I am humbly thankful for this journey and all the talented people that have become apart of my life. It fills my heart and I know my mom would be super proud. I'm excited to see whats next! |
