Copa: What were some of your earlier experiences in modeling?
Marnie: In High School I became a Model for Strauss Skates, I was a figure skater at the time and the people who took our team photos told my dad I had a great smile and muscular legs and they wanted to use me for the brochure. I was so excited but remembered that the photo was so cheesy!!! Haha! I also Modeled my hair for various Hair Products and Colgate Toothpaste followed.
As for my Acting, someone approached me and told me I should skate in this movie being made so my first break was being a skater on the ice in "The Mighty Ducks" movie with Emilio Estavez, then I shot a New Years Eve Scene in the movie called "Untamed Heart" with Christian Slater, and "Sugar and Spice" being at a Football game-all being "extras."

Copa: Have you run into any issues regarding your height in modeling or acting?
Marnie: For Acting I didn't think my height would restrict me, but after I attended John Casablanca I was having doubts. I wanted to be in Fashion Shows, but my jobs were leading me to Print Work because of my height. Copa: In your personal opinion, which attributes that you possess help you in your career?
Marnie: I have been told that being a Colombian female with curves does give me that exotic look, but I would have to say my smile and laugh gives me my character. I feel more myself when I'm smiling. A few months ago I shot a Commercial and the camera man recognized me from a Training Video I did 2 years ago in another state- he told me, "I would recognize that smile from anywhere." |
Copa: Are there any memorable experiences to date that you wish to share with our readers?
Marnie: As far as stunts not too many, but I've had to learn how to hold a gun properly, take a man down, and handcuff him. I also had to be a dead body and learn when to duck alittle as I was put in a bathrub then a trunk all while wrapped in a blanket. Playing dead and keeping my eyes open was actually easy for me-the camera crew said that it gave them shivers watching me on the cameras because I truly looked like I had died with my eyes open-haha! |
Copa: What does the future hold for Marnie?
Marnie: Well, in the future I plan on participating in more Fashion Events. I have learned that my height has not stopped me in following my dreams to participate in Fashion Shows. I have walked in Shows and have proudly represented Designers, Modeled for amazing Collections, and if anything have achieved more than I thought I could. As for Acting, I plan on having more Agents in different states. I have been SAG eligible for over a year and once I land that "Big Job" I will then join the Union. For now, I proudly hold my letter in a safe place at home.
I continue to be thankful and humble, I've learned to ask for help along the way and accept when things don't go the way I've planned. I've had amazing, wonderful friends who have cheered me on and supported me along this journey. I truly couldn't of gone through all that I have without the people in my life and for that I am truly grateful.
