I've always been a writer and speaker in various capacities all my life, the work has just taken different forms. Whether as a social justice advocate, a professor, a policy analyst, non-profit executive, media personality or entrepreneur, writing and speaking have always been intertwined in what I do.
Though I've been a contributor to several edited books, and have been published in multiple capacities, I have just one book of my own, "How Exceptional Black Women Lead."
Effective leaders have vision and develop strategy. They also have the ability to communicate their ideas powerfully, ultimately inspiring others to engage in the actions necessary to put their vision and strategy into action and see it through to completion. Because of the dearth of effective leadership in this nation right now, unfortunately, thousands are dying that wouldn't have otherwise.
I believe they should have multiple foci. First and foremost, keeping themselves and their families healthy and safe are paramount. But also critical is leaning into the gift of the extra time this pandemic has given us to spend with those they love most. However, it's critical that this time is also used in some way to make progress towards a dream that you've never quite had the time to focus on in the past. This is the moment to work on those things that had been put off for someday. Someday is now.
Sure, I've spent over 20 years engaged in the media, most of that time as a subject matter expert. But when I became an entrepreneur, I got serious about figuring out how to use the power of the media strategically to drive more leads and ultimately, more revenue to my business. After using that skill to quickly accelerate my own business growth, I now help other entrepreneurs do the same. This skill is especially critical during this moment of social distancing, as it provides a unique window of opportunity to get your business in front of a captive audience of millions.
So to help in that respect, I've created the Perfect Media Pitch Masterclass to give entrepreneurs specific instructions on how to craft a perfect media pitch that they can use immediately to attract the media attention their businesses need to get more leads and drive more revenue to the bottom line, even in uncertain times. Your readers can learn more about my free Masterclass and sign up to participate at: perfectmediapitch.com.
I believe that leadership takes many forms. For example, I believe entrepreneurs are leaders. And at this moment especially, entrepreneurs need to be committed to availing themselves of any additional information they need to more safely navigate the economic disruptions that are happening right now. That's why I'm so committed to serving by way of offering my Masterclass. Because we all have a responsibility to develop the skills necessary to lead in a way that will protect the financial futures of ourselves, our families, and our communities. That responsibility doesn't end in a moment of crisis. To the contrary, it becomes that much more vital.
