Copa: Where are you from?
Julianna: I'm from the beautiful state of Maryland. Copa: What schools have you attended?
Julianna: I was more self-trained but to hone my skills I took classes and and learned anywhere I could. My Glam Lab Make-Up Studios and Academy was done. They where a major part of what and where I am, today. Copa: At what time did you develop and interest in makeup?
Julianna: Make-up wasn't a big thing in my house growing up. My mom barely ever wore it. But at thirteen I met a beautiful woman that just wore make-up apologetically. Her confidence just drew me to her. I was told that I don't need make-up, you're already beautiful. As if I was trying to cover up ugly. The lady said, I know I am beautiful, the make-up only enhances my beauty. |

Copa: When were your first experiences with makeup application and developing your own style?
Julianna: I did a lot of free and low-paying jobs in the make-up field and watched others. I did these things to see what I wanted to be known for. How I wanted people to see me was very important. What I saw was good people who didn't believe in themselves because of medical conditions. They would just help, instead of running the shows. I wanted to help give them that confidence. I want to help them believe they can do it. I recently did make-up for a high-school girl, whose life was changed because of an illness. Her mom told me that as soon as she saw "Crippled But Cute," she knew I could help her daughter build her confidence. Now that she sees me doing it. She know she can as well. Copa: What is your standard philosophy on makeup application?
Julianna: Make-up is fluid. When you understand face shape, skin type, and what the need of the event are. You can know what your client needs. I have a dialogue with my clients and try to understand them. We have to get to know our clients and understand them, to give them what they require. |
Copa: At what time did you establish your business?
Julianna: I have been in business for about 6 years now. The magic began for us in 2015.
