Rebecca Fremont
~ Actress/Model ~
Copa: Where are you from?
Rebecca: I was born in Birmingham, Alabama. Copa: What schools have you attended?
Rebecca: I graduated from Shades Valley High School in Homewood and attended college at Auburn University where I earned an Accounting Degree. Copa: When did you become interested in modeling?
Rebecca: My first attempt at modeling came with the Junior Miss Pageant in Birmingham, AL during my senior year of High School. I thought it would be fun to enter with several friends. I was pleased to be in the Top 20. Copa: Who are your 3 favorite models of all time and why?
Rebecca: First, I always thought Lauren Hutton was gorgeous. I was amazed at how successful she became even with a gap in her front teeth. I also followed Jaclyn Smith. Although she is known for her role as Kelly Garrett in the television series, Charlie’s Angels, she actually did model earlier for Breck Shampoo and other products. I thought she was beautiful inside and out! And of course, who didn’t and still doesn’t love Christie Brinkley? She is fabulous! Just look at her! And look in my workout room! I saw her advertising exercise equipment on a commercial and bought the Total Gym which I understand she actually uses. She is my age and such a motivator to stay fit! |
Copa: At what time did you become interested in becoming an actress?
Rebecca: About 4 years ago, I went into the local Merle Norman store to buy some cosmetics and met Bellina Lambdin, a woman who was appearing in the movie, Jackie. She played one of the Kennedy sisters. As we were talking about her career, she asked if I wanted to join her and her girlfriends and participate in their acting classes. She was so kind! I asked her how to get started in the acting/modeling industry and she told me about Backstage.com and Cheryl Felicia Rhoads Acting School. So, I began taking acting classes and joined Backstage.com so that I could begin applying for roles immediately. I did several jobs for free at first to learn what was required on set and learn the terminology. My husband took a photo of me to submit as my headshot and I jumped right in! My first roles included being a mourner at a funeral, a mom at a July 4th celebration and a former high school cheerleader…simple roles that definitely gave me a desire to do more!

Copa: How did you feel when you landed your first commercial gig?
Rebecca: I finally got a professional headshot done by New York photographer, Barry Morgenstein. It was such a wonderful experience!! And then, the big break came for me!! I was selected to be the grandmother in a luxury children’s brand, NUNA, filming in Pennsylvania. It was and still is one of my favorite jobs. I enjoyed working with the other actors, the filming crew, and the children. The location was great at a beautiful home on a sunny day!

Copa: Please tell our readers about your experiences on the set of the commercial shoot.
Rebecca: It was my first time to have my hair and makeup done by professionals! They also supplied all the clothing, jewelry, and shoes! Everyone treated us so special! I loved the newborn babies on set and the toddlers. (I actually have 13 grandchildren with a 14th on the way!!) The home setting was gorgeous and fresh flowers were brought in. It was wonderful! It was easy to “act” because it was a scene about friends and family that I love. Little did I know that the commercial would end up on the huge digital screen that wraps around the building in Times Square!! I was completely surprised when my actress/model friend, JeanAnne Roberts, who was in NYC at a Broadway play, saw the commercial as she exited the theater and sent me a photo! Oh, my goodness!! My husband and I caught a bus to NYC the next day and sat on the Red Stairs in Times Square until the NUNA commercial came up each hour. It was about 3 minutes long, so we were able to get some iPhone videos. Absolutely one of the biggest moments in my life!!

Copa: Who is your favorite actress?
Rebecca: The first person who comes to mind is Susan Lucci!! She is so gorgeous and talented!! She played Erica Kane for 41 years on All My Children. She grew more beautiful as she got older. And now at 76 she is still acting and also a National Ambassador for the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women!

Copa: How was your modeling experience in the show and the garments you displayed?
Rebecca: Meeting Amna Inam and seeing the beautiful clothing was amazing. The dress that I wore was like a Cinderella dress. What a gown with such gorgeous sleeves! I felt like a princess on the runway. I thought I would feel nervous, but with all of my friends and family supporting me, I was surprised how at ease I felt. I wanted to “show off” Amna’s gown!! It is so exciting on the runway (that you actually forget you are in 4-inch heels!) |
Copa: How did you meet JeanAnne Roberts and participate in the Randhawa Brands Fashion Show?
Rebecca: JeanAnne was in my acting class a few years ago and we had become friends. Today, we stay in regular contact. I just adore her and her enthusiasm and optimism. We also share the same faith and want to live a life that exemplifies that hope. JeanAnne asked if I would like to model at New York Fashion Week 2023 for Randhawa Brands. At first, I felt overwhelmed at this possibility, but if she believed in me, I knew that I could do it. I ate healthier, exercised more and went to the rehearsal. JeanAnne taught me how to walk the runway! It has been an unbelievable experience planning the trip, getting new clothing for NYC and practicing in 4-inch heels! It has been an exciting challenge to go from Grandmother and Retirement Community commercials to NYFW runway model!! |
Copa: What does the future hold for Rebecca Fremont in her wonderful world of acting, modeling, and style?
Rebecca: I plan to continue to submit for opportunities in commercials, print jobs and film roles. I definitely want to hit the runway again in NYC! And I would love to appear in the series The Chosen again. I have finally found an industry that suits my dream job. I get to work and be productive but have time for family and friends. Plus, I get to meet wonderful and exceptional people at every job. Life seems to be like a miracle every day for me…even with silver hair!
Did I say wonderful and exceptional people? I have to comment that being a success in this business is a reflection of the good people you hang around with. I think of all those who worked with me to make me a better person, actor and model. I think of my hairdresser, Moses at Salon M who convinced me to quit coloring my hair and go natural; my nail tech, Jack at U. S. Nails who makes my nails look so natural and always makes time for my crazy, changing schedule; Bob Earley at Generations Medical Aesthetics who treats those fine wrinkles on my face; the fitness instructors at Freedom Aquatic and Fitness Center who motivate me to keep working out; my acting coach, Katie Killacky of Capital Coaching Studios who is exceptional. How about the casting directors and agencies who took that chance on me? How about friends and family across the US who call or text when they see me in a commercial? How about my husband who is so supportive and so happy for me? And my children and grandchildren? To me, I may be the one who shows up in a commercial or in print or on the runway, but it is all the above people and many others that actually bring me to life on set. I am grateful for all of them!
