Paparazzi is snapping away at every charitable event, corporate function, etc! So how does a woman prepare for the Red Carpet, or any other special event in her life? I will give some great tips on looking flawless for any special occasion!
In my opinion it is always a good idea to hire professionals for any event that you want to look your very best! If you decide to do it yourself, however, here are some great ways to look your most fabulous!
The week prior to an event I recommend getting a facial so that your skin is glowing and has time to recover from any redness, or breakouts that can sometimes show up after a facial. I also recommend lightly tanning for a hint of color. A light spray on tan or using a self tanning product can achieve those results! My absolute favorite self tanner is St Tropez. It is natural looking and can be used consecutive days prior to the event.
A good night’s sleep the night before is also the best way to look refreshed and rested. If you can’t do that you can always fake it with these tricks! When you wake up in the morning you can soak a wash cloth in a cold glass of ice milk. Apply the cool compress to your face for five minutes. This will reduce puffiness and brighten your skin! For any puffiness around the eye area you can use First Aid Beauty Detox Eye Roller ( Sephora ). It works even better if refrigerated!
Now let’s talk makeup! I always begin by creating the appearance of flawless skin! I start by using corrective makeup and concealers first, to even out the skin tone. I love MUD ( Makeup Designory) correctors! They are really creamy and high in pigment so they give great coverage! They come in shades for all skin tones! The next step is to apply a light weight foundation and dust the face lightly with a loose powder to set the makeup! Bobbi Brown’s loose powder is a great choice!
To make your eyes pop you can use a shimmery shadow to highlight the brow bone, line the eyes with a liquid or gel liner, and apply faux lashes! I love the MAC shimmer shadows and Bobbi Brown gel liner comes in wonderful colors! Be sure to groom your eyebrows and perfect them with some eyebrow shadow, pencil, or gel. When shaped well the eyebrows frame the eyes beautifully!
To pull the whole look together add just the right lipstick! I like to have one focal point on the face, so if you are going with a smoky eye use a pale, nude shade of lipstick. I love Hourglass Femme Nude Lipsticks. They come in six shades. When it comes to nude lips you must choose one that looks good with your own skin tone to get just the right affect! They offer six different shades of nude! Reds are really fashionable right now! MAC Ruby Woo is a favorite of mine! Be sure not to go too heavy on the eyeshadow if you opt for a red lip, it can end up making you look too heavily made up!
The final step that I like to do to make the whole look come together is adding the blush last. Once you have your eyes and lips done you can see exactly how much, or little color on the cheeks, you need to balance it all out. One of my favorite cheek colors is NARS Orgasm blush! It gives a beautiful glow to any skin tone!
Once the finishing touches are added I like to spray a light mist of mineral water spray for a dewy affect!
There you have it! You are ready to slip into your dress and let the flashing lights of the paparazzi begin!
