Copa: At what time did you receive your desire to pursue the pageant world?
Alyssha: Such a funny thing, because honestly I fell into it. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I wanted to try something new and I started to do really well. Eventually after winning the Miss Globe Maryland title, I competed in Detroit where I won Miss Globe United States and then found myself in China representing the USA and winning Miss Globe against 49 other countries!

Copa: Have you always wanted to become a model?
Alyssha: I’ve always been a performer. My first passions are Acting, Dancing, and Writing but as a creative I find modeling to be such an outlet.

Copa: Please describe your most interesting photo-shoot.
Alyssha: Ohhh, this is a good one. I did a helicopter shoot last month in Sri Lanka that was beyond exciting. I also did a shoot a few months ago in a gown on horses which was fun because animals are so unpredictable!

Copa: Who are your top 3 models?
Alyssha: Definitely Tyra banks because she has created such a positive movement with her influence and also Coco Rocha and Naomi Campbell. I love women who use their modeling platform to make a difference and shake things up!

Copa: Please share your opinion of the state of fashion today in America.
Alyssha: We are in such a pivotal place in fashion and it’s fascinating. This is time wear people aren’t mocked for expressing themselves, being different is encouraged. I remember when if you didn’t have the latest trend you weren’t fashionable, now we love people’s choices and encourage individuality. It’s beautiful.

Copa: How would you describe your personal style?
Alyssha: It’s funny because I’m naturally drawn to the boho, artsy side of fashion.. but my work “uniform” so to speak is very glamorous and I enjoy that too. I think that’s the thing about models, we love to be in costume.. we live for playing dress up.

10. When was your first pageant completion, where did it take place and were you nervous?
My first pageant was Miss Maryland USA and I would definitely say I was out of my element. It was only 4 years ago which is funny because many of these women have been doing this their whole lives. To be next to women who have made pageants their career and still place as a semi finalist was such a blessing... pageantry is honestly a secret weapon for a career in the entertainment and fashion industry.
11. What have you learned so far in your journey as a pageant contestant and model up to this point?
I have learned to shine in my strengths and let others shine in theirs. It’s so easy to compare but I’ve got that me- ness that no one else has, I’ve learned to love that.
12. What does the future hold for Alyssha Shanks and her world of style, fashion, and pageantry?
Well, the crystal ball says the sky is the limit. Haha, but really I am open to what God has for me. I plan to build on what I’ve started and I believe my purpose is to share my gifts so I shall continue to do so with love and creativity ❤️
