Denise Rogers
Good morning Denise, I hope you are enjoying a great day out there. As you are probably aware, my interview questions are rather basic and cover general areas about your life and activities. Interview Questions:
My mom received a letter over the summer that said because of my good grades and GPA, I was chosen as part of a special program developed in the D.C. Public School system focusing on business and finance. It was then that I learned I was being bused to N.E. Washington to a new school outside of my jurisdiction called H.D. Woodson. A beautiful school. None like any I’d ever seen in one of the worse parts of town. It was there that I learned and fell in love with “business”, economics, finance, learning the stock market and so much more that I still thrive on today. I graduated from H.D. Woodson Sr. High in 1989. Anyone who has attended H.D. Woodson is considered a Warrior 4 Life. Hundreds of us are still close today.
As an Executive Producer and Host, I wear a lot of hats. The women who come on my show understand the power involved in changing lives for the better. I like to say they’ve been battle tested and won. Every person on my show inspires. Whether, through the ups and downs of a single mother, a widow, a divorcee’, a survivor of domestic violence, you’ve overcome illness, a speaker whose faced a storm, or an author with a powerful message. These ladies are there to connect with women who can relate to them because they see themselves in each and every one of my guest on the show. My guests are women who say: “Denise, I’ve been where your viewers are and this is what I did to get to where I am. And if it worked for me, they can do it too!”
6. What is your philosophy of modern style as it pertains to projecting a public image that would help many women move better in their careers? I tell all women that when it comes to your image, it’s time for you to take control. For too long, we’ve allowed society to dictate who we are as moms, business women, and entrepreneurs. As a woman with a career, YOU are in charge of controlling what your image portrays. So the philosophy of modern style as it pertains to projecting a public image is for you to take the reigns of the blue print of your career. It is your first responsibility for you to control your image because your image is your brand. It is whatever you want it to be. It’s not wise to work for something and allow someone else to decide what your image will be. No one should have the power to tell you, your worth.
7. In your personal opinion, do you feel that the Washington, DC area is more beneficial to women, if so why? Absolutely not, nor is it NOT beneficial. When I speak to women, I speak to them regarding reaching the masses. That means New York, DC, LA…get on a plane, travel and market yourself INTERNATIONALLY. No need to box yourself in and limit your potential to one city. Opportunity is what you make it.
8. If there is a clear message that you would like to send out to your viewers, what would you like it to be? Because my viewers are women and moms, themessage I’d like to send is: You are more than enough. Women struggle with their insecurities, am I thin enough? Do I make enough money? Am I good mom? I’d like for them to know that no matter where they are in their walks of life, they are more than enough.

- Where are you from?
- What schools have you attended? I’m a product of the D.C. Public School system. I attended Kimball Elementary school where I still have fond memories. I was always a very creative kid. I was a part of lots of art contests and won district ribbons for my school. I knew I was talented when I was often asked to assist teachers in designing lots various projects for the school. I had a way with colors.

- At what time did you decide to produce your talk show?
- How would you describe your program "Society Moms" and what sort of guests do you look for to interview? I would describe The Society Moms Talk show as a leading media platform where women and moms come together to not only discuss real life situations, but share their personal journey of success. A journey that inspires and motivates other women to do the same.

- Is there a specific message you would like to share about parenting and careers and tuning a fine balance with both? Parenting is one of the greatest responsibilities one could ever have. Whether you are parenting with your spouse or a single parent, there is no greater responsibility than being able to mold another human being. Parenting is not for the faint of heart, you have to love unconditionally, you have to tell them things that allow them to walk in their gifts. It is very important to constantly reaffirm and encourage them along the way. As for balancing your career and parenting, careers are imperative as they are a means to an end and allow you to take care of your children…but you’ve got to merge the two in order to find the balance to achieve success both areas.
