Friends’ Celebrates 10
th
Anniversary
by Afiya J Watkins
This weekend, the D.C. based philanthropic
organization, ‘Circle of Friends’ will host its 10
th
anniversary social event. For a decade, the elite
gathering of area influencers has assembled an
exclusive annual event during Thanksgiving weekend
comprised of members, friends and sponsors alike, to
help raise money for area charities that benefit
underserved youth. This year, the celebration will span
two festive evenings of upscale entertainment. More
than 500 invited guests which include: politicians,
doctors, lawyers, and business professionals, will come
together in a Who’s Who of Washington’s African
American society to celebrate the holidays,
achievement and enduring friendships. Friday night’s
event will take place at the elegant La Vie Restaurant
located at the newly renovated District Wharf where
guests will network and mingle. The second evening
offers a more casual, yet chic event historically
celebrated at Takoma Station Tavern which will feature
music and dancing.
The event, which is by invitation only, has sold out.
