Caylei: I am originally from Ashland, Oregon
1. I am originally from Ashland, Oregon
2. St. Andrew's School, Middletown, Delaware & Columbia University, New York, NY BA
3. Art History & Statistics
4. cW was incorporated in 2017 and launched in July of 2018
5. cW is a lifestyle publication. We cover topics from fashion, clean beauty, travel and nutrition to innovations, research and most importantly, stories from and for those affected by cancer. My hope is that people will derive value from listening to the stories of others and discovering techniques and products that encourage empowerment.
6. My personality is reflected in my style daily. I see myself as a bit of a chameleon and I see my wardrobe is the key to transformation. I love to climb mountains (almost) as much as I like to walk runways. Donning gaiters and crampons appeals greatly as I love digging into the natural world, feeling its energy and finding strength in being part of its rhythm. Once I have had my fill I like to come down from the clouds, get properly cleaned up in something ravishing and step back into the grand social parade.
7. cW is Chicago-based and incorporates many stories about locals who are doing amazing things in the world of cancer. From researchers to warriors to charities, cW acts as both a sounding board and reflection of the cancer landscape in Chicago and around the world.
8. The city of Chicago has a lot to offer, but what makes it so extraordinary is that these offerings are easily accessible to the general public.
Visionary founders set the tone (post Chicago-fire) by establishing strict land use and building guidelines with human happiness in mind. For example, within the city of Chicago, setbacks between buildings are required to encourage sunlight in an effort to enhance public health safety and welfare.
The city's brilliant urban planning, which includes large swaths of land along the lakefront dedicated to public enjoyment. Parks, including Grant, Millenium, Lincoln and Burnham are of massive scale. Other waterfront property allocations include; museums, a world class stadium and conference center. Music, theatre and art galore. In short, it is all about easy access that makes Chicago "my kind of town."
9. My first professional modeling experience was while I was in college in New York. A scout approached me in Penn Station and asked if I would be interested in modeling for Urban Outfitters. The shoot would take place in Philadelphia on a weekend so I agreed and took the train down. I didn't know what to expect, but what I found was an appreciation for the amount of work that it takes to produce a good photo shoot and that modeling can be simultaneously fun and challenging. I like to focus on the fun bit. Recently I had the pleasure of walking for Mark Roscoe in A Silver Lining Foundation's annual show, which was fabulous. In that show I really felt that I was in my element as I love fashion and raising money for those touched by cancer.
10. The future? My hope for the publication and for myself is continued growth. I understand that encouraging people to live well within their bodies and minds begins with cultivating those qualities within myself. I plan on continuing my own journey into the wellness space and am excited to share my findings with others. For me, fashion offers a brilliant world of transformation and excitement, which I believe are keys to wellness.
Many Thanks Rodney,
~Caylei
