Good Morning Rodney,
My apologies for getting this questionnaire to you so late, I have been swamped with work as well just closing on my house a few weeks ago. So between that & moving life has gotten a little hectic. See the attached answered questions below & I look forward to hearing from you soon!
1. Where are you from?
I am from Waldorf, MD
2. Which schools did you attend?
I attended Westlake High School in Waldorf, MD & Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD where I received a B.S. in Transportation Systems Engineering.
3. At what time did you discover the love of Photography?
My love of photography started at the age of 4. My Grandpa always had the latest & greatest equipment. I started out as a model for my family wearing my grandma's heels & dresses as most young girls do. I then transitioned to being behind the camera around college.
4. Which area of Photography interests you the most and why? I love event photography because you can capture the beauty of a moment live. I also love fashion photography, capturing garments and how they move down a run-way.
5. What type of equipment do you use?
I currently use Canon equipment, it took my first photos on a friend's Nikon in 2018, but it didn't feel right. I haven't come across a Sony that I loved. I always say, Canon chose me & I have been hooked ever since! I started with a Rebel T7 and have since traded it in for a 5D Mark III & I most recently invested in a Canon R6 that I am excited to try out.
7. Which events have you found to be the most interesting so far?
I can't pick just one, but so far my most interesting events have been the MD International Pageant, DC Fashion Week & most recently the David Yurman - McLaren Mercedes Fashion show for the We Will Survive Cancer Benefit. Doing these shows have given me so much insight on the industry. When I first started photography it was a hobby, I was photographing architecture & nature. I really have to thank my cousin Yolanda Stennett for opening the door for me to get into a lot of these spaces. While I have networked to get other opportunities I am forever indebted to her for providing me with a platform to pursue my dreams!
8. How was your experience during DC Fashion Week?
DC Fashion Week was such a whirlwind, but so much fun! Ean & his team curated such a warm & open event. I attended everything from the Happy Hour Mixer to the Final Show on Sunday which was the International Couture Collection. I met so many amazing photographers, who gave me great advice & insight on the shows & just the photography industry overall. We have all kept in touch and a few have offered to take me on shoots or red carpets with them to get more practice & exposure.
9. What does the future hold for you in your wonderful world of Photography?
I am actively working towards being a full time traveling photographer for all types of events from concerts, pageants & fashion. For the upcoming year I am diligently working towards participating in DC Fashion Week again, along with getting my foot in the door to shoot New York & Paris Fashion Week as well.
In the distant future, I'm not sure what it will hold, but I am taking the time to enjoy the journey that I am on & allowing God to order my steps because his plan is so much better than anything I could imagine!
