As a columnist for COPA Style Magazine, I had the incredible opportunity to attend New York Fashion Week 2024, and what an experience it was! Not only was I personally invited by the esteemed celebrity designer, Michael Lombard, but I was also treated to VIP seating in the front row of his highly anticipated "Michael Lombard Experience."

Walking into the venue, I was immediately struck by the buzz of excitement and anticipation in the air. As a New York native and a personal friend, Michael Lombard is known for his innovative designs and his mastery of leather craftsmanship. And let me tell you, his reputation precedes him. From the moment the first model stepped onto the runway, it was evident why Lombard is being hailed as The Next Gucci.

Lombard, initially acclaimed as the "King of Leather," has since transcended boundaries, venturing into diverse realms of fashion - and his use of every fabric possible in his designs is nothing short of spectacular. From high-end sheepskin to calfskin leather, each piece exudes luxury and durability. What sets his collection apart is not only the quality of materials but also the attention to detail and the incorporation of unique elements like studs, spikes, and zippers, adding an extra edge to every ensemble.

Drawing on his extensive experience as a creative and producer in the music industry, Lombard's shows are not merely exhibitions of clothing but immersive journeys into his world of artistic ingenuity. His repertoire has expanded to encompass every fabric known to man, a testament to his boundless creativity and dedication to pushing the boundaries of fashion. From sumptuous silks to opulent velvets, each piece embodies Lombard's unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation
A noteworthy accolade is Lombard's distinction as the sole African-American store in the most opulent section of the world's largest mall, the Dubai Mall Fashion Avenue. This remarkable feat underscores Lombard's global influence and his ability to transcend cultural barriers with his avant-garde designs.

But behind the glitz and glamour of the runway is a humble, straightforward, and honest man. Despite his 'celebrity' status, Michael Lombard remains grounded and connected to his community. This is what truly makes him exceptional – not just as a designer, but as a community leader.
One of the highlights of the show for me was seeing some of my favorite outfits, including the leather cargo pants and leather dresses, worn by stars who graced Lombard's runway. His unique use of capes and vests added a touch of urban charm to each look, showcasing his versatility as a designer.

On a personal level, Michael Lombard has been influential in my decision to start Leading with Lisa, a platform dedicated to uplifting and empowering others. He takes pride in supporting and uplifting the careers of those around him, making him an influential community leader within the DC area.

Recently recognized as the third most famous international African-American in fashion, Michael Lombard is a force to be reckoned with. His talent, passion, and commitment to excellence continue to inspire and captivate audiences worldwide. As I left the Michael Lombard Experience, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to witness firsthand the brilliance of this remarkable designer.
