New York Fashion Week

By Richard Senkbile
One of the thoughts that I had after my first is WOW and God willing this will not be my last experience on the runway at NYFW this past weekend. What an amazing experience it was to be in New York for the start of New York Fashion Week!! Meeting, collaborating, walking with so many wonderful models, and socializing with so many like-minded people was just a very humbling experience. To think that this, a man of my age, after growing up on a farm in rural Nebraska, at the age of 51 now has walked in fashion shows in the fashion capital of the World in New York City is just amazing!!

I have many people to thank for this experience and I have to give ALL THE GLORY TO GOD FIRST!! For without Him, none of this would have been possible.
From there, the designer Jude Charles is just an amazing young man living his dream in the city of fashion after growing up in Haiti he is working on his brand in the Big Apple!! Thank you young man for giving myself and Jenise Davis the opportunity to live out our dreams of walking in NYFW while supporting your dream at the same time!! This is a relationship and friendship that is just beginning.
Jenise Davis, also from the DMV area, and I hit the runway in the same two shows; the first on the Hornblower Cruise at Pier 40 produced by Eric Vega and then the “Fame” show on Sunday night.
Jenise was able to slay the runway for two designers on the Hornblower Cruise; one of which was also Jude Charles’ piece and the other piece was the product of designer Fantasia Veneziana who is from Naples Italy living out here dreams as a designer in NYC.
Fashion and style is alive and well and like music brings so many cultures together and breaks those cultural boundaries. Bringing people together from all over the World, whether black or white or American or Asian we all are working in one accord with each other and supporting each other’s dreams!! It was and truly is amazing!!
