Copa: Where are you from?
Michelle: I’m from Pottsville, Pennsylvania, a small but mighty area in Schuylkill County. I say mighty because we do amazing things in our area to create goodness around us. When someone is in need, we pull together and do the impossible, and I’m beyond proud to be a part of a community like this. They are also very supportive of what I do in my modeling world. Makes me very proud to say I'm from Pottsville, Pennsylvania. I hope I continue to make them proud with everything I do.

Copa: What are your top 3 favorite things?
Michelle: ahhh, a stumbler question because every opportunity is different from another. However, to analyze it in general, I’d say the first is the opportunity to meet new people. Throughout my journey, I have been fortunate to have met many extraordinary people. From models to designers to photographers to producers, and not to mention people behind the scenes, I have only had contact through phone conversations. With each person I’ve met, I have created a special relationship. This has given me more opportunities to connect with others and expand my modeling opportunities. It’s essential to represent yourself to the fullest while ensuring that everyone you connect with leaves a lasting impression. So far, with whom I’ve encountered with I’m confident enough to say I have always left a positive impact everywhere I’ve been. I’d say Second is the art …. I love art; it’s everyone else's visions that come alive. It’s such a variety from runway to photography… I love seeing what others create, and I have immense respect for them. I’m always honored to be chosen to represent them. Thirdly, I’d say the adrenaline I have for what I do… I absolutely love the energy… I’m an upbeat person, and fashion is upbeat too. I get excited about creating something amazing with others. Everything that’s done is a team. That’s what makes it so awesome. Everything is planned and sometimes spontaneous, but to see the end results created is amazing. Out of everything in modeling, runway is my favorite. Being on that runway… brings out the most amazing feeling! I love everything about it. I take every walk I do to the fullest. To me, it’s not just a walk; it’s representing so much in every walk I do. Someone says the word runway, and my eyes twinkle like stars! For me, it’s the most unbelievably amazing feeling being on that runway. Michelle spends a significant amount of her time working with individuals with disabilities.

Copa: We were glad to see that you enjoyed yourself at the DMV awards and Fashion Gala.
Michelle: Sat, July 19th, was a great time. What an honor again to represent so many at one event. First of all, I’m representing myself, my hometown, as well as the DMV areas, and everyone involved that night. I’m very honored to be with so many amazing models, hosts, designers, photographers, event coordinators, journalists, and let’s not forget the man responsible for this, Dr Burke Tauheed. I’m very proud to be a part of his team to make this evening incredible. Many people are getting recognition this evening that working hard, and many times we do work hard without recognition. To be a part of an event to see others get this will be fantastic. I’d say the top reason that got to my heart is where the proceeds are going. Kiyah House, which serves those with disabilities. I have been working with those with disabilities for almost 30 years. They are a huge part of my heart, and I feel I’m representing all of them during this event. Those from the surrounding DMV area, including my area of Schuylkill County. Copa: What will you be wearing to Saturday's event? Michelle: I’ll be wearing two looks. The first look is designed for a model to host a red-carpet VIP event. This looks to be an elegant piece: Royal blue sequins fish tail style gown with a high neck silhouette and sleeves. The edge of the gown is trimmed with blue ostrich feathers. The second look will be for the presentation of awards. I’ll be handing out four awards for this. I’ll have another amazing style. A Black Silver duster jacket /dress with a tuxedo silhouette. Black satin wide lapels with black satin buttons. The ensemble has a maxi cut. Malcolm and I have worked together previously; I feel confident he would dress me to the finest level. Every piece he creates is like no other and is a showstopper. We have developed a relationship, trusting in one another. I know what I’m getting placed in is going to be extraordinary, while he knows I’ll represent what I’m wearing to the fullest. This is what I talk about when you meet people throughout your modeling journey. It’s about representing, and it’s important to leave a mark.. You never know what other opportunities come your way. I will also be having my hair styled by Kim Leaswitch from salon KL, Pottsville, Pennsylvania. She has created many amazing looks for me, and I have faith she will create another for this event. |

Copa: What will be your next modeling project
Michelle: My next modeling project is the runway Steadfast event in Virginia with Grace Steadfast. After that is Johnstown, Pennsylvania, fashion week with Camillya Taylor. This is where I first started my runway. We mark the sixth season !
Johnstown Fashion Week feels like home to me … it’s what gave me wings to fly. I’m forever grateful for that.
