1. Where are you from?
I'm from a small town called Southport in Merseyside, England
2. What schools have you attended?
I went to Greenbank High School For Girls, then I enrolled in college and got my hairdressing certificate.
I also graduated from The Canadian School of Natural Nutrition
3. How is life living in Ontario?
Life in Ontario is good. It's full of work opportunities and there are always things to do, especially if you love exploring small towns and Cities.
4. At what time did you gather interest in Health & Nutrition?
From a young age i was always playing sports, but it wasn't until i ended up in hospital at the age of 29, having a bowel resection and being diagnosed with crohns disease that i started looking in to healthy food options and supplements
5. What general advice would you give to individuals that don't go out that much due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation?
We can all go stir crazy staying inside looking at the four walls. I definitely suggest getting out for lots of walks and going for drives, if you have a car. Any kind of activity that helps you move will keep the brain active. Chat on the phone or computer to friends and family, even play games that way too.
6. How can one stay safe while going out to walk or run in the city?
Be sensible when going running or walking. Try not to go out at rush hour when the roads and pavements are busy. Keep a phone on you at all times.
If you wear headphones, don't have the music so loud that you can't hear what's going on around you..
7. Should we spend less time in large grocery stores shopping for food and why?
There is no right answer for this as it depends on where you live and what you have access to.
The more people that are in a large grocery store, then there is a slightly higher risk, so if you have to go, then go first thing in the morning or later on in the evening when it's quieter.
8. What's the best way to store fruits and vegetables and still maintain it's maximum freshness?
Some fruits and vegetables, like bananas, tomatoes, garlic, onions, squash and potatoes like a cool dry area with air circulation, not in the fridge.
Leafy greens are best unwashed and sealed in sealed plastic bags.
Apples and pears are best in the fridge, although if you need the pears to ripen, then leave them out for a couple of days, until they soften slightly, then refrigerate.
Mangoes are similar to pears, leave out to ripen, then refrigerate.
Citrus fruits can be left out, especially if you like to juice them, as they're easier to peel and juice.
9. In your opinion what are better nutritional supplements or fresh fruits and vegetables? What are your views on canned and frozen foods?
Fresh fruits and vegetables are always a great way to nourish your body, especially if they're raw. Although not everyone can tolerate raw vegetables, so then vegetables can be steamed, boiled, baked or put on the barbecue.
My second go to is frozen, as usually as soon as they're picked, they get flash frozen to keep in the freshness.
Canned vegetables are last on my list, unless it's in the beans variety which is a great add in for soups, and stews.
Canned fruits are my last choice, and better if it's stored in water
10. What does the future hold for Jill Bradley and her wonderful world of Health, Nutrition, Exercise, and Fitness?
The future is an unwritten story with lots of new adventures to be had.
Everyday is a new chapter and I am always available to help those with questions on fitness and nutrition and health. My wish is for everyone to understand that the foods and drinks we consume are our fuel. Our thoughts, emotions and actions impact our health and future.
Food can be the best form of medicine or the worst kind of poison.
