Janet Cersley National US Director for Ms. and Mrs. Tourism
USA
Copa: Where are you from?
Janet: I am Janet Cersley, National US Director for Ms and Mrs Tourism. I was born and raised in Southern Mindanao, Davao City, Philippines. Copa: Who or what influenced you to become interested in business?
Janet: Growing up as the third of seven children in a family of entrepreneurs, I was immersed in business from an early age. My parents owned a restaurant, and it was in that bustling environment that I learned the value of hard work, determination, and the art of negotiation and the art of negotiation. My childhood was a mix of challenges and opportunities, shaped by the Philippines' vibrant culture and my parents' business acumen. Today, I am a wife to my wonderful husband, Will Cersley, and a mother to two amazing children—Lamoine, a 24-year-old commercial pilot, and Lyndzy, a 19-year-old aspiring nurse. Copa: Please share with our readers about your education and early life.
Janet: I pursued my college education in the Philippines, studying Dentistry at Mindanao Medical Foundation College. While I enjoyed my studies, my entrepreneurial spirit was always alive, thanks to the lessons I learned from my parents. As a teenager, I was often sent to do the groceries for our restaurant, a task that honed my negotiation skills and gave me a taste of independence. These experiences instilled in me the confidence to navigate the business world, laying the foundation for my future as an entrepreneur. |
Copa: How did you overcome your adversity by embarking on your pageantry journey?
Janet: Growing up, I faced my share of challenges, particularly when it came to self-esteem. In the Philippines, having darker skin often meant being labeled as less beautiful, and I was no exception. I was bullied for my appearance and struggled with feelings of inadequacy. However, I refused to let societal standards define me. I held onto a dream—to one day become a beauty queen and prove to myself and others that beauty comes in many forms.
In 2010, my dream became a reality when I was crowned Mrs. Asia USA, becoming the first Filipina to win this prestigious title. It was a moment of immense pride, not just for me but for my country. My success in pageantry continued, with titles such as Mrs. Eco Earth North Carolina and Mrs. World Virginia Philippines under my belt. In 2023, I represented the USA at Mrs. Universe Official and secured the 1st runner-up position. But beyond the crowns and sashes, my greatest achievement has been using my platform to empower other women. As the National Director and Founder of Mrs. Tourism USA, I have dedicated myself to uplifting women, particularly survivors of domestic violence, by providing them with a platform to share their stories and inspire others.

Copa: At what time did you embark on your interesting venture in business in the Real Estate Industry and becoming a dedicated advocate for women?
Janet: In addition to my work in pageantry, I have built a successful career as a Realtor with Keller Williams. My approach to real estate is rooted in the same principles that guide my life—integrity, honesty, and a belief in oneself. Whether helping a family find their dream home or guiding a client through the sale of their property, I strive to make each experience as positive and fulfilling as possible.
My journey has not been without its challenges, but I believe that every obstacle is an opportunity to grow and learn. My experiences have shaped me into a resilient, determined, and compassionate individual, committed to making a difference in the lives of others.
